A little(long) message from behind the scenes - With the release of my song “Devotion” this week, it’s been a bit of an emotional roller coaster for me. I know many of you who are artists and music industry people understand what it’s like to pour your heart into something and then let go of the attachment to how it performs once it’s out in the world. I’ve learned that some of my best moments of success have come from letting go of expectations, but it’s such a hard practice to come back to in the low moments.

Especially when we’re working so hard behind the scenes. Posting every day, trying new things, making new visuals, reaching out, showing up and sometimes it feels like you’re throwing things at a wall and watching them fall flat.

And with the pressure of building a career post grad, trusting that the work you’re putting in now will eventually pay off can feel unattainable. I’ve had so many small moments of success this year that have reminded me to keep going, even when it feels like I’m putting so much in and getting little back both financially and emotionally.

I’m so grateful to be surrounded by other creatives who understand and support each other. And I found it kind of funny that my biggest frustration this year has been with my single called “Devotion.” So this week, I decided to pull back on planned promotion and instead look for photos that made me feel devoted to the music and the people in my life. I wrote this song about my boyfriend, and in choosing these photos, I realized that devotion is everywhere in my life and most of all, in my relationship with myself and my art.

I want to stay committed and inspired in my career, but ultimately find fulfillment in moments of connection like these that remind me of my why. If you read this far, I hope you are reminded of the things that make you feel devoted to your life. 🤍
