Toyota just proved a hybrid belongs in the desert.

At the 2026 Vegas to Reno, @t_drt___ became the first hybrid entry to ever finish the race, taking 1st in the Stock Production Class after all 505 miles.

And it didn’t exactly limp across the finish line.

No flats. No major mechanical issues. 505 miles completed.

Only 44% of Stock Production Class entries made it to the finish.

The hybrid didn’t just survive Vegas to Reno. It won its class.

Maybe the question isn’t whether hybrids belong off-road anymore. 👀

Toyota R&D is coming to the 2026 Vegas to Reno!

August 13–16, 2026

For the first time ever, a hybrid race vehicle will take on America’s longest off-road race.
