📣ANNOUNCEMENT / Samstag is pleased to announce Teresa Busuttil (SA) as a recipient of the prestigious Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship for 2026.

Busuttil will receive a scholarship that provides institutional fees for one academic year, a $75,000 tax-free allowance, and travel expenses to a leading international art program of their choice.

Teresa Busuttil’s practice explores how memory is held and transmitted. She employs moving image and sculpture to investigate the intersections of history, lore, time, ritual, migration, and assimilation.

“Busuttil belongs to a generation of contemporary artists exploring new visual languages as a means to examine the evolving lineages and politics of place, heritage and migration. Her work navigates expansive themes of history, time and memory with both rigour and poetic sensibility, repeatedly reminding us—literally and figuratively—of the depth and expanse held by the sea. “

Out now on Offsite, moments from the 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 Symposium engaging with the artist’s ideas, methods, and ethics.

Co-curated by Helen Grogan and Joanna Kitto, the symposium focussed on the strategies of the artists, offering an insight into their satirical, humorous, and sensual approaches.

🎥 Ahmed Coshnow reflects on the vibrancy, rhythm, and atmosphere, observing exchange and attentiveness between artists and audiences.

🎥 An excerpt from Brian Fuata’s performance responding to 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, the conversations, the audience, and social relations between them. Fuata forms a kind of connective tissue between words, thoughts, materials, research and the emotive energy of the works and what is occurring during the symposium.

🎥 An excerpt from Rosie Isaac’s 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘵𝘶𝘣 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 along with new writing by Debris Facility.

Artist in Residence | Teresa Busuttil @t_eresa___
