May not have slept, but it sure felt like I was dreaming up there ✨

Here’s a bit more of last Saturday’s hike up Mount Garfield and Galehead.

Grateful for friends willing to sacrifice sleep for adventure @thcusack & @t_fers

You ever wonder how much you can do in a day?

Yesterday was one of those days.

It started at 4:30am in Boston. In the car and northbound by 5. Mountain views by 6:30 and parked at Pinkham Notch by 8.

Linked up with the crew, @thcusack and @t_fers, packed our bags and got ready to trek.

Fun fact - there’s a scale at the trailhead to weigh your pack - mine came in at 32lbs. Could I have shed a few by leaving my puffy and snowpants behind, probably, but better to have than not!

About an 1:15 up to Hojos and got our first glimpse of the bowl and the snowboarding to come.

Continued up and into the bowl. Man I love Tuckerman. A beauty and a beast every time you approach it. Shoes then transitioned to boots and crampons came on for the boot up Left Gulley.

Conditions were great, given the month, but unlike Tucks in the winter, the Sherb in May is far from in. Which means our day is far from over. Boards back on the back and a long charge down.

But all of that work made the cold plunge in the river at the bottom that much better. Nothing like a dip in ice cold water to get you back to where you need to be to keep the day alive.

Because after Tuckerman, it was far from over.

@blackmtnnh had it’s closing days this weekend and had lifts spinning til 7pm. What better way to celebrate some May riding with some more May riding…and this time lift assisted. Stoke was high, vibes were great, the community was out and the $20 all you can eat buffet hit just right.

And a bonus - ran into a few more friends up there too!

And after all that, the long haul back to Boston. Home by 10:30pm

Days like these are long, but they’re the ones I love the most.
