EP REVIEW 🌫️

We reviewed the latest EP from @heaving.band — “why are you still dreaming?” 🖤🔊

Three tracks of heavy low-end, hazy shoegaze atmosphere, distorted guitars, grunge textures, and nu-metal weight. If you’re into Deftones, Hum, Superheaven, or heavy alternative rock, this one deserves a listen. 🌀🎸

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

🎤 ABOUT HEAVING.

heaving. are a four-piece heavy alternative band from Peoria, Illinois, featuring Morgan Stricklin on vocals and guitar, Tyler Spatafore on drums, Trevor Spatafore on guitar, and Bowie Adams on bass.

Formed in the early 2020s, the band blends nu-metal, shoegaze, grunge, post-hardcore, and alternative metal, with influences ranging from Deftones and Hum to Superheaven, Helmet, and Chevelle.

Their debut EP, “just take everything…”, arrived in 2024.

Their 2026 EP, “why are you still dreaming?”, was self-released on July 22 and features “faces of you,” “if i cried out,” and “carsick.” The three songs were designed to flow together as a continuous loop.

The EP leans further into heavy low-end, dreamy shoegaze textures, distorted guitars, and nu-metal heaviness, creating a sound caught between hazy alternative rock and crushing modern heaviness.

Tyler Spatafore handled recording, James Treichler tracked the drums, and Adam Cichocki mixed and mastered the release.
