VIFF Atlantis Rising Fashion Show 2026
2026/08/29

Photos from Behind The Scenes before the runway. This was the first time I returned to one of these events in awhile so I decided to approach it differently with a few quick 2 minute mini portrait sessions knowing that I was double booked and had to leave early. Check out the full album now available on my Facebook Page at Facebook.com/HermanKPhoto!

🇵🇸 Hayba — هيبة is more than strength.
In Arabic, Hayba describes that commanding presence a person carries dignity, confidence, strength and stature. It is the kind of presence that doesn't need to be loud to be noticed. You feel it before a word is even spoken.

And that is exactly what we wanted this denim to represent.

The black denim gives it that strong masculine structure. The bold red Palestinian embroidery across the back carries our heritage. And the Kufiyeh at the side makes the identity unmistakable.

But one little moment before the runway made this look even more memorable to me.
As I was tucking the Kufiyeh securely into our model's pants, I looked at him and said:

“I'm sorry if I'm hurting you while tucking it".

He immediately replied:

“I'm a man"

And we absolutely loved that answer. 😂

It was spontaneous, confident and completely unexpected — but somehow, it captured the energy of HAYBA perfectly.
Because this design was inspired by the strength we see in Palestinian men — their resilience, their masculine presence, and the way they stand for their families, their people, their identity and their land.

But there is another part of this story that means so much to us:
Our model is not Palestinian.

And neither are many of the people who purchase and proudly wear our denim jackets.

Because you don't have to be Palestinian to carry Palestine with love.

When you see this jacket from far away, you recognize the #embroidery. You recognize the Kufiyeh. You recognize Palestine.

And that visibility matters.

Every time our heritage is worn, Palestine is being seen.
Every time our embroidery walks into another space, our story travels with it.
Every time someone chooses to wear it with respect, they are saying in their own way:

Palestine is still here. Palestinians still exist. Their culture still exists. Their identity cannot be erased. 🇵🇸
For us, fashion has never been only about clothing
.It is one of the ways we preserve, represent and resist.

And whether the person wearing HAYBA is Palestinian or simply someone who loves and supports Palestine, the message remains visible.
