🎭🍷 TABLE 17 – A TABLE FOR TWO, BUT A WHOLE LOT OF BAGGAGE! 😂❤️
Well, what a fabulous little gem at the Kiln Theatre!
Two exes, one dinner date, unfinished business and enough relationship drama to make you grateful you’re just watching! 😂
Just THREE actors delivering an absolute masterclass in comedy, chemistry and chaos!
🌟 Marisha Wallace is fabulously feisty as Jada, Jamael Westman brings charm and plenty of complications as Dallas, while Michael Rishawn is an absolute scene-stealer, brilliantly switching between characters!
But what I REALLY loved was the audience participation! 👏🤣 We’re actually encouraged to shout out, react, laugh, cheer and give our opinions. Well, you don’t have to ask me twice! 😂 It’s like having a good old gossip with your mates about someone else’s disastrous love life!
And believe me, there were plenty of moments when the audience had something to say! 🤣
Beneath all the laughs, though, there’s something rather thought-provoking about love, relationships, second chances and knowing your own worth. ❤️
Do we really want our ex back, or are we just remembering the good bits and conveniently forgetting why we got rid of them in the first place?! 😂
Funny, sassy, clever and surprisingly touching. Proof that you don’t need a huge cast, elaborate scenery or a West End blockbuster budget to create a fabulous night of theatre!
👏 Bravo to all three performers! Such talent, brilliant comic timing and a wonderful connection with the audience.
Now here’s the million-dollar question… WOULD YOU HAVE DINNER WITH YOUR EX? Or would you rather eat your own arm? 😂🍷

If you’re going to see @marishawallace in @table17theplay, get ready to be involved. In the latest episode of @miss.leigh.ding Fortunes, Marisha shares that not everyone in the audience has been on her character’s side…

Table 17 is on at the @kilntheatre until Saturday 24th October (so run don’t walk to get tickets!) 🎟️

A play that made me laugh, sob and text my ex @table17theplay

I’ve always believed that love doesn’t necessarily disappear. It just transforms into something different. Sometimes reconnecting with an ex isn’t about wanting them back. It’s about revisiting a version of yourself that still exists somewhere in both of your memories. Remembering how madly in love you once were, how much you’ve grown, and sometimes exactly why things didn’t work out 😂

And honestly, there are a few exes I’d genuinely love to have dinner with - not all of them, obviously :)

Some people leave such a mark on your life that even if the ending was painful, even if getting over them was one of the hardest things you’ve ever done, deep down you still wish them nothing but happiness

And sometimes remembering how deeply I once loved someone makes me a little emotional. Not because I want them back, but because I’m reminded of how capable I was of loving someone so deeply. I’ve learned that I’m only responsible for my own feelings, and regardless of how things ended, what I felt was real. And at that time in my life, it felt absolutely magical

I’ve also learned that not every successful relationship has to end in marriage, engagement or a lifetime together. Sometimes the success is realising you’re not right for each other, learning from it, and knowing when to let go

Maybe moving on isn’t about forgetting. Maybe it’s about remembering without needing anything to be different. And for some, love finds its way back. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be. Who knows ❤️

Thank you, Table 17, for making me revisit those feelings ✨

If you’re looking for a lovely solo date, this is definitely one. A beautiful story that will make you laugh, feel all the emotions - maybe even revisit a few memories of your own 🥹

And what an incredible cast! Marisha Wallace - an absolute QUEEN as Jada 👑 Jamael Westman as Dallas and Michael Rishawn as River, Eric & Others - absolutely fantastic performances 👏👏👏

“Is it really love if it ends? Or is it only rich if it lasts?” 🤔❤️

@table17theplay was PACKED with hilarious one-liners, by all 3 of the cast but in particular @michaelrishawn. Though amidst the non-stop laugh-out-loud moments, this line from his poignant closing monologue seems to be the only quote I can remember 😅

This is a perfect ‘rom com’ show. It has so much humour but also so much heart. Going in, we thought this was a two-hander with @marishawallace and @jamael.westman - who were both incredible - but what a treat to discover a third character, who at first seems to play a minor role but as the show goes on becomes pretty iconic!

Marisha plays Jada, a sassy air hostess who has been invited to dinner by her estranged ex-fiancé Dallas, played by Jamael. The two have excellent chemistry and as the play develops, we see insights from each of them into their current feelings as well as flashbacks to key milestones in their relationship.

Michael plays various roles showing great range, our favourite potentially as the sassy server at the restaurant, although his briefer role as the bartender on the night J & D first meet was a real highlight.

The use of comedic timing between all three of the cast on stage along with lighting, staging, and music is top tier and all comes together to make this 90-minute play a finely tuned piece of engaging and enjoyable theatre.

We were intrigued about this as soon as we saw Marisha Wallace cast but it was @atdazzles’s podcast ep with Marisha and Michael that cemented our need to book tickets, and we’re so glad we did! 🙌🏻

There’s less than one week left to catch this gem at the @kilntheatre - run don’t walk! 🏃‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️

If your ex called you to meet for dinner, are you going? Matter of fact, is their call going to connect 🫣?

When her ex-fiancé, Dallas calls, Jada puts on her best dress and takes a seat at Table 17. Whilst they unpack what went wrong in their relationship, the night becomes a cocktail of emotions. Awkward moments, tears, reminiscing, laughter, eye rolls - you name it. Sitting in the audience, I went through every emotion with them.

I really enjoyed this play! It explored the complexities of relationships and how you can be in love with someone and begin to feel like they no longer see you. It was thought-provoking, controversial and funny in all the right places, so it landed just right.

10s across the board! 👏🏾

Showing at @kilntheatre until October 24th 💕

Would you go for dinner with your Ex? That’s the premise of Douglas Lyon’s Table 17, currently playing at the Kiln Theatre. 🍸

Marisha Wallace & Jamael Westman play estranged couple Jada & Dallas. The pair reunite for a dinner reservation to clear the air after their dramatic split. Accompanied by Michael Rishawn who plays a whole host of characters, we watch this relationship grow and break in this fast paced rom com. 🪩

Be prepared to play relationship therapist because the audience are called upon throughout to offer advice. This involvement doesn’t feel forced at all, it adds to the playfulness of the show. 🗣️

At its core, Table 17 is an exploration into communication and how relationships change as we grow as people. It’s a fast, fun night at the theatre which is bound to entertain. 🩷

📍Kiln Theatre until 17th Oct
