I got to connect with my mentors, an unparalleled eschelon of educators, distance trainees of #somaphyx amd dear friends that will cherish forever. All while doing what I love...teacher teachers.

We did A LOT of #pilates in between the hugs, laughter and love.

Thank you Balanced Body for all that youve done and continue to do. Can't wait until next time! 😘

Gonna tag as many as I can. Please add more in comments as you see 'em.

Black women in Pilates with 20, 30, 40+ years EACH in the practice—all gathered at Balanced Body’s 50th anniversary Pilates on Tour in Sacramento. Let that sink in.

The GOATs. The legends. Decades of teaching, mentoring, building businesses, and carrying the work forward.

Our “Seat at the Table” dinner expanded that celebration into a space to connect and honor one another. A seat at the table means our expertise is recognized, our voices help shape decisions, and our contributions help define the future of Pilates.

Here’s to honoring the women who have put in the years—and making room for those coming next. Our presence matters. Our experience matters. Our legacy deserves its flowers. 💐💛

The legendary Lolita San Miguel. 💛 What a joy to sit with her this weekend at Pilates on Tour Sacramento and share a memory that has stayed with me for years.

At one of my first Pilates on Tour events, around 2009, I was the only person of color there. Unfortunately, no one had spoken to me. I took Lolita’s Reformer workshop, and afterward, she came over, placed her hand on my shoulder, and told me I was an amazing mover.

I was surprised—and I felt seen. In a space where I had felt alone, that simple moment meant so much.

During our conversation this weekend, I learned that she loves dancers. As a former professional dancer, I wondered whether that was part of what she recognized in my movement all those years ago.

To reconnect and tell her how much that moment meant to me was special. We may never know how long someone carries a few kind words. I’ve carried hers ever since. 💛
