..reflecting on yesterday’s race and the beautiful Ohana that I have surrounded my being with.. “I get to…” is a theme for a while now and it’s just the way I’ve flipped the narrative. Here I was just reminiscing about @akinnanelson and how magical she looks in the picture with me, or how my belly looks in a pic of my 61 years oldish body after racing for second place against a new friend, Jana, or the beautiful canoe Dave is buying..or the special chocolate chip cookies Robin makes for over 1,000 people at a race, and the age spots on my hand that clutches raffle tickets…how awesome of mini van Dan still puts on the BEST AND LARGEST $35 race in the world…and how blessed to be in the presence of “paddle royalty” for a post race dinner of fellowship smash burgers.. and then to be brutally reminded of the hate that is dividing our country.. the evil….The reason I’m praying for peace today..for those tragedies of innocent lives that were ended, and then for whales to be sighted today on a paddle this morning…because I get to…. #igetto

My ten year Buckle!! A decade of Tennessee River summers of training! Taco's thrilled with his buckle, but Larry Hill's handmade one still takes the cake. Thanks again to my @hanohano_outrigger ladies that help me get my buckle! Dave earned his 5year buckle!! He also placed 6th overall men’s OC1 in a very stacked field! Very proud!!
Thanks to Ben and Kim Frieberg and the incredible volunteers who tirelessly work to make this race possible for the last 14 years!
#keeppaddling #outriggercanoeracing & thanks Leah Payne for the pic of taco and me

I’ll say it again, at the end of the day…every time I go paddle, we leave it on the water…No matter what part of this small planet we go, paddle Ohana makes me feel this 🤩❤️🤙 #keeppaddling #ohana #allthefeels Big Mahalo to @sroche1 and @islandgurlssi @imadawgphan for the invitation to paddle OC6 with their Lokahi Ohana. Always an honor ❤️

Super proud of @dave_bittenbender and his 4th place finish! Nipped at the line, but at least he didn’t get pummeled by the OC6’s this year!!Hats off to @chattajack Ben and Kim for making the race safer this year, I thank you! Race recap for me, as of last week, life happens almost didn’t get to start my favorite race… I showed up with no expectations as usual.. just a long day ahead thoughts,1. Power = Speed over the water 2. Keep paddling 3. Grateful This is all I kept repeating… trusting my program from @allpaddling and super happy with my “Santa sled” from @barkboards The journey was incredible getting to that start line! And with her flare for dishing out spicey weather, The #chattaweathergoddess threw a punch at me with a half mile to the downwind, 35mph gust was a gift of a challenge to trust the process & training this 2024 season. Friends & family ask why I do it? Why Not?..I’ve already started planning for #cj2025 🤩🤪🧜‍♀️🤙👀 Thanks @whitekxtn for the racing pics!
