Hey, it’s time for a change and this decision has not been made lightly. New York has been quite the adventure. Almost a decade. I’m moving home to Maine for a reset and to get to a place where I can build a new and more sustainable life for me, my husband and our two dogs. To everyone who sat in my chair I want to thank you and wish you the best. To all the people who enriched and colored my experience I also want to extend my thanks and hope you know how grateful I am to have known you.

Let’s pay attention to BA.2.12.1, which has increased to 29% of new cases, according to @cdcgov weekly genomic surveillance update. (Link in bio: Covid-data-tracker/#variant)

BA.2.12.1 already dominates New York. Experts predict that it will surpass BA.2 as the dominate variant nationwide because of its infectiousness. According Cardiologist Dr. Eric Topol (@EricTopol), BA.2.12.1 differs significantly from BA.2 by sequence and has ~20-~30% transmission advantage, as does BA.4 and BA.5 which are associated with a new wave in South Africa.

“I wear my masks everywhere I go for one very simple reason: I care about other people. I especially want to protect my unvaccinated kindergarten students.”

Melissa is a big fan of @baggu face masks.
