Today our AFJROTC cadets went on a field trip to the South Carolina Military Museum, where Heather Mcpherson and Chris Mielke walked us through the museum.
Afterwards we got to eat pizza provided by our booster club, followed by a demonstration of a funeral honors detail from the South Carolina Army National Guard

On November 1st, my daughter @allisoncopsey and I will run the NYC Marathon as proud members of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T) Team. T2T is the legacy of Stephen Siller, a member of FDNY Squad Company 1 in Brooklyn, who gave his life saving others on September 11th, 2001. When Stephen arrived to find the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel closed, he strapped 60 pounds of gear to his back and ran on foot through the tunnel toward the Twin Towers. For 25 years, T2T has honored his legacy by supporting Gold Star and fallen first responder families, catastrophically injured veterans, and veterans experiencing homelessness by providing mortgage-free homes, specialized smart homes, and funding the education of fallen heroes’ children.

Twenty-five years ago today, I remember the surreal images, the confused commentary, and then watching as the second plane hit the South Tower. In that moment, I knew this would be a day that changed the world. From tragedy, heroes emerge. On that day, 343 members of FDNY ran into the burning buildings, not out. They ran up the stairs, not down. In one of humanity’s darkest moments, they restored our faith in it.

As we mark this quarter-century milestone, we do so not just by looking back, but by continuing the mission Stephen embodied: to serve others, to Never Forget, and to ensure that no sacrifice goes unrecognized.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for my spot on the T2T Team. I carry the inspiration of Stephen and all the heroes from that day with me in every mile, and they will certainly be with me as I run the five boroughs on November 1st.

On June 15, I started my training for the @nycmarathon on November 1. 100 days from today, I’ll be running those 26.2 miles through New York City. The miles are adding up but I have been motivated by the spirit created throughout America by the World Cup and the celebration of the 250th Birthday of the United States. Neither of these events would have been possible without the service of our military and our first responders.

I’m running with my daughter @allisoncopsey for the @tunnel2towers foundation, raising money to support Gold Star and fallen first responder families, catastrophically injured veterans, and T2T’s mission to end veteran homelessness. Today we also celebrate the grand opening of the Tunnel to Towers Veterans Village in North Charleston, SC, representing the first investment by T2T in the state of South Carolina. In addition to providing permanent housing, the Village has onsite services for medical and mental health, career assistance, and other wrap around services for formerly homeless veterans. Seeing the impact of T2T in my home state become a reality makes every early morning run worth it.

I'm running the @nycmarathon this November with my daughter @allisoncopsey to support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (@tunnel2towers).

Tunnel to Towers provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and the families of fallen first responders, builds specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans, and works to end veteran homelessness across the country.

In 2026, they're working toward delivering 343 mortgage-free homes throughout the United States in honor of the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives on September 11, 2001. Here in SC, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is opening a Hmeless Veteran Village in North Charleston in July - a first for our state!

LTC Evans officially retired this past Saturday, closing out an incredible career of service to the South Carolina Army National Guard.

As our Public Affairs Officer, she didn’t just tell the story—she shaped it. Her leadership, vision, and commitment ensured our Soldiers’ voices were heard and their missions were seen across the state and beyond.

More importantly, she invested in people. Many of us are better leaders, storytellers, and Soldiers because of her guidance.

Ma’am, thank you for your years of selfless service and the legacy you leave behind. Wishing you nothing but success in this next chapter.

The South Carolina Army National Guard has announced a modernization initiative within its aviation portfolio, divesting its AH-64E V6 Apache helicopters and introducing a new rotary-wing platform to support future mission requirements; the selected aircraft is the AH-1Z Viper, offering enhanced agility, reliability, and operational flexibility across a range of mission sets, including the added advantage of a skid-type landing gear configuration that enables improved performance in austere environments, reduced maintenance complexity, and greater flexibility during expeditionary and unimproved landing operations, while retaining the gray paint scheme in recognition of the AH-64A aircraft that were painted gray during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and pictured above is the first of 24 aircraft to arrive on the ramp in South Carolina, with fielding of the remaining aircraft continuing over the coming months as units begin integration and training, reflecting an ongoing commitment to maintaining a ready, capable, and modern aviation force in support of both state and federal missions.

I had the opportunity to attend and document a well deserved Army Aviator's promotion to CW5 today. He has multiple combat deployments, experience across several airframes, and a reputation built on knowledge, leadership, mentorship, and friendship.
