A little reintroduction…. Aloha, I’m Kristi-Lee 🤍
Honolulu girl → wife → mom of three → military spouse. After nearly 18 years and five duty stations, Colorado is finally home.

I began my work in Family Medicine, supported Pediatrics, and spent time in Internal Medicine, where caring for our kūpuna held a very special place in my heart. Now I’m stepping into a lead role in the Emergency Department alongside another Pacific Islander — and I’m so proud of that 🇼🇸🌺. For us, family comes first. Our elders are the heart, and caring with love is in our blood.

I once dreamed of giving my children the safe, loving home I needed growing up. Today, I’m living that dream while continuing to pursue my own. I’m grateful for my family, the friends who’ve stood by me, the new friends who’ve welcomed me, and the people at work who’ve helped me grow.

And somewhere along the way, I’ve learned to make room for me, too. Here’s to this next chapter. ✨

#latepost we had some downtime in Iowa, so I asked the girls, If their moms were on the team, what position would they play?

We would have a team of QBs, Centers, Corners, and Linebackers…

Currently looking for WRs, RBs and maybe a safety lol 😂

Recap: Day #2 in Iowa 7/30

✅brunch at @machineshedrestaurant
✅raid Five Below for squishes (and we totally did)

Last day of fun before the tournament. Let them be kids. One thing I loved about our trip, is that our families let the girls just be together. The girls spent every waking moment together. Always in each other’s rooms and when it was time to sleep, every family made sure all the girls obeyed “curfew.” Lol 😂 This trip couldn’t have been successful without all families making it about the girls!

Recap: Night #1 in Iowa 7/29

We settled into our hotel. Then headed out to enjoy our first night in Des Moines, Iowa! Food, fun, and laughter was exactly what we needed to start off our first travel trip together. The girls had so much fun just being able to hang out and enjoy each other’s company!

There’s something special about sports that doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s not just watching your own child grow. It’s hearing another parent yell your child’s name. Watching them celebrate your baby and every thing they do on the field.

The village you choose to surround your child with matters. If you find teammates whose parents, families and friends celebrate your child as much as you do, don’t take that for granted 💙

#latepost …and we’re off to Iowa! This trip came at the perfect time. We tracked off of school on Monday, then we were off to Iowa on Tuesday. We flew to Denver…the only one that cared about that was my dad. Then we caught our next flight to Iowa.

When we got there, they had all the Junior Olympic posters in the baggage claim. Did I mention half the team was on the flight?

We did some shopping and headed to our hotel. When we got there, we jumped outta the van and gave big hugs to Sia and Lia. We were so happy to see their other siblings as well as Uncle Renzo and Auntie Lupe.

Our team was almost reunited…just waiting for Penny.

Their first travel tournament is in the books!

Don’t get it twisted 🌪️ We didn’t enter this tournament to chase a ring 💍 We knew this wasn’t going to be easy, but we still wanted it anyways. This was so much more than the Ws and Ls. It was about showing them we trust and believe in each and every single one of them 💪🏽 and they needed to trust and believe in each other and themselves. It was about getting every single girl on that field to let them be great. The team we needed in this tournament, was the team we always had.

In the last 2-3 months, the bond these girls created has grown stronger. There will be a day when this stops. Some girls will continue to play, some girls will walk away from the sport completely. But the one thing they will always have, is the memories they created and the bond that grew stronger. They will always know they have each other ❤️

We are so grateful Sia and her family could travel from New York to play with us, and we wished Juju could have made the trip. Her presence wasn’t forgotten. All the girls missed her out there.

Trust me. You will see these girls again. Until next time, thank you family and friends for all your love and support. O ai le Teine Toa 🙌🏽

Wow! What an amazing turnout! I stressed so much about this fundraiser, because I felt like there was no way I could throw something so quick and it be a success.

For me, this is my testimony that when you do something and your love is genuine. When it’s time to lead, everyone will follow and everything will turn out okay. Every little detail, could have been bigger and better but with the love, support and reassurance from my mamas, they truly stepped up for me in ways I could not imagine! From the last minute team brochures, to our low budget centerpieces, you all hyped me up to just keep doing what I needed to do to get it done! Thank you Lupe (Penny’s mom), Jade (Eliana’s Mom), Jo (Sadie’s mom), Delayna (Kahlee’s mom), Talia (Thea’s mom), and Lupe (Sia’s mom, sending love and good vibes from New York), I couldn’t have done it without you all. To the dads, thank you for just stepping up and stepping in when we needed you.

Thank you Coach La for coming through and being our DJ at the very last minute. Thank you to Ocean for dedicating his fire knife dance to his Teine Toa sisters. Thank you Cece for also teaching the girls their Siva Samoa at the very last minute as well. From day one until their final performance, you cracked down on the girls and they did a beautiful job.

To our families and friends that showed up and showed out for our babies, you all made this a night to remember for them. No matter the outcome in Iowa, last night will be a constant reminder of the village they have behind them. The memories and the bonds they share is how their love for football brought them and all our families together.

Last, to my peles! My beautiful and amazing baby girls. Our love for you have no bounds. We will move mountains to give you all the opportunities we as parents did not experience ourselves. Keep working hard and continue to love each other and support one another. Always be amazing human beings. We love you all so much.

After a hard training session, the 11U Teine Toa girls used the last 15 mins to practice their siva for their fundraiser. Thank you to @fsavini for coming through and helping our girls prepare at the last minute. Forever thankful for you and for everyone’s continued support.
