My Scottish Sampler. I am stitching a sampler to commemorate my Scottish ancestors who immigrated to America. Both of my parents surnames are Scottish. My father’s side were Quakers so I’ve added half Quaker medallions as the bottom border. The basic structure is based on the top half of North Carolina Sampler by Theresa Baird. ( photo 2) The left side ocean scene represents the journey by ship. The right side will have a farm scene from Voice of the Shepherd by Told in the Garden. You can see this being stitched by Joanne, The Story Stitcher. (photo 3) The farm represents both of my parent’s families who were farmers. The children are my mother and father who both grew up on farms in Ohio. I reckon I’m halfway done.

Chrysanthemum and Acorn Spool Pin Doily. I bought this on Etsy from DandelionRoseDesign for my copper colored Singer Featherweight. I think it’s perfect. I made the doll quilt when I followed Susan Standley’s First Stitches project. I use it as a mat under the featherweight.

Freebie Wishful Thinking by Long Dog Samplers. Michelle of MommaLovesYouGB showed this yesterday on her flosstube and I dropped everything to kit it up. It is a pdf download on the longdogsampler.com website. I started it this morning. The bright colors are sparkly dmc etoile. I’m stitching on 16 count Aida so the dimensions will fit inside an 8 x 10 frame. Since I already have the parts this will be totally free.

O Sweet Humility, Eliza Townsend by Cross Stitch Antiques is almost done. As usual, I left the border for last. I have 24 flowers to do and some small motifs in the center. This is my focal piece so I hope to finish in March.

Symphony of Friendship by Cottage Garden Samplings finished. This is one of my wips my sister adopted and finished. My wip before is photo #2. I couldn’t face those hundreds of leaves and border. She is a monogamous stitcher and works steadily until it’s done. She plans to hang it over her fireplace mantel. I got her started cross stitching during covid. We both owe our start to Anna, Stitch Roadie, on flosstube.

Emma liked her gift. Emma, the Amish woman, we commissioned to make the Autumn Glow quilt liked the cross stitch I made her. (Photo #2) She is displaying it in her quilt store as I hoped she would. It is amazing that she is wearing a teal colored dress like the piece. I had seen a video of her dresses hanging on a clothesline on RoseBGone on Youtube. The pattern is a Prairie Schooler altered to represent her bonnet. The pattern is perfect because she pieced the quilt on a treadle machine.

Kaleidoscope Quilt Wallhanging. 49” x 41” This is a quilt my mother made that I begged her for when I saw it. The hand painted metal bugs we collected over a few years from a vendor in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The longest are 10”. Can you see where I got my love for bright colors?

My Scottish Sampler based on North Carolina Sampler by Theresa Baird. I’m using elements of the sampler and condensing the top border. That giant 4” thistle is what got me. I’m stitching the sampler to acknowledge the Scottish heritage on both parents’ sides.
