Asia NOW returns to Paris for its 12th edition from October 20 to 24, 2026, at the Monnaie de Paris, showcasing the incredible talents of over 50 galleries and 150 artists. This year’s theme, “Sentimental Value,” invites us to reflect on how artworks acquire meaning through memory, relationships, and connections, with a poignant focus on soil as a symbol of grounding.

Participating galleries include Esther Schipper, Sabrina Amrani, Kaikai Kiki Gallery, The Drawing Room, and many more, presenting a dynamic range of solo, duo, and group exhibitions. Special projects will inspire awe, including Vessels of Memory by Jogja Biennale, curated by Alia Swastika. Spanning painting, weaving, soil, sound, performance, and archival practices, the project features Citra Sasmita, Ines Katamso, Hashel El Lamki, Timoteus Anggawan Kusno, Jumaadi, Nathalie Muchamad, Dicky Takndare, and Rani Jambak. Further highlights include a captivating presentation of the Saudi art scene by Villa Hegra and a project by Kalhath Foundation celebrating the beauty of Indian craftsmanship.

Adding another dimension to the programme, Punk Orientalism Studio, founded by Dr. Sara Raza, Artistic Director and Chief Curator of the Center for Contemporary Art Tashkent, presents I Open My Mouth and Speak Art, a week-long programme of conversations, presentations, readings, and performances exploring art, language, migration, cultural memory, and resistance.

Asia NOW presents Biennale Reflections from Manila to Venice, a conversation with artist Jon Cuyson, curator Mara Gladstone and Francine Almeda, who are collaborating on this year’s Philippine Pavilion at the 61st La Biennale di Venezia.

For Asia NOW 2026, Jon Cuyson and Mara Gladstone reflect on their experiences of bringing the Philippine Pavilion to the Venice Biennale, exploring the challenges and opportunities of realizing a large-scale, site-specific project on an international stage. From media attention and commercial interests to budget constraints, community-building and collaboration, the conversation examines the different meanings of value in artistic practice. How does the value of a project evolve as it moves from Manila to Venice and back again? What is gained and lost in the transition from the local to the global, and how can creative value be built together?

The conversation also offers an opportunity to reflect on the role of major international exhibitions in shaping artistic careers, fostering collaboration and connecting local practices with global audiences.

Philippine Airlines is the travel partner of the Artistic Team of the Philippine Pavilion and its educational programs.

Minor Attractions is an art fair in a real hotel, with every room a different gallery. It makes use of the setting instead of fighting it, and it was the most fun I had at a fair this week.

The standouts:
Tala and Starch Gallery, with works hidden in the cupboards and Best Wishes Gallery with a very grubby bathroom.

The performance that met me at the lift.

A fair you wander through rather than get sold to.

Thank you for making the time to join us for the conversation around Holding a Mirror to One’s Beloved. I’m deeply grateful for your presence. A book like this is ultimately an invitation into conversation, and it felt meaningful to see that invitation take shape. A special thank you to Manisha for moderating the conversation and holding us all together with thoughtfulness.

If you missed the event, the conversation continues in the pages of the book. Find your copy through the link in my bio.
