@coachdeng came all the way from Copenhagen Denmark to put on a basketball camp for the youth in Lethbridge Alberta! Deng talks about the importance of consistency and creating a healthy, fun, holistic lifestyle that you can enjoy for decades to come He now runs @talatabasketball Academy in Copenhagen which is one of the biggest bicycle capitals in the world, with bicycles outnumbering cars by more than 5 to 1. Thatโ€™s crazy for people in the west to even comprehend ๐Ÿ˜‚ Over 60% of residents commute by bike, and thereโ€™s about 750 000 bikes and only 130 000 vehiclesโ€ฆ health and movement is a LIFESTYLE out there with over 90% of citizens owning a bike and taking advantage of the extensive bicycling infrastructure Sounds like my type of city, and is definitely on my travel list! Thanks for putting on this awesome basketball camp Deng! So cool giving back to the community that helped shape us over a decade ago ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Follow @coachdeng to see what basketball, coaching, and life is like out in Denmark ๐Ÿšฒ

The diamonds are deeper than you think. A miner doesn't quit because the first swing didn't hit diamond. They keeps going. Same rock, same swing, day after day until it finally gives. That's the game. That's life. Nobody's coming to hand you anything. The belief has to come from you first, before anyone else buys in. Remember that greatness isn't one big moment. It's the boring reps nobody sees, done over and over until they pay off. Keep pushing. The day you want to quit is usually the day right before it clicks. Push through it. The players who make it aren't the most gifted. They're the ones who kept swinging when everyone else put the pickaxe down. Keep digging. You're closer than you feel. ๐Ÿ€ This is the mindset we're building at the Canada camp. Come put in the work with us. ๐Ÿ“ Catholic Central High School ๐Ÿ“… Mon Jun 29 to Fri Jul 3, 9:30 to 15:00 ๐ŸŽ‚ Ages 11 to 17 ๐Ÿ’ต $189 CAD (without camp tee) โ€” or pay full price with tee included ๐Ÿ”— forms.gle/6pfZUve4HjVXgdAi8 Pay by e-transfer or cash at Monday check in. Want to get better? Start by going to bed. Everybody wants the extra workout, the extra reps, the secret drill. Nobody wants to talk about the one thing that actually makes all of it stick: sleep. Here's what sleep does for a young athlete: Cuts your injury risk. Tired bodies break down. Studies show under-slept athletes get hurt way more often. Sleep is when your body repairs and rebuilds. Sharpens your focus. Reaction time, decision-making, reading the floor; all of it gets faster when you're rested. Sleep is film study your brain does on its own. Locks in your skills. The reps you got today actually get wired in while you sleep. No sleep, no growth. It's that simple. Builds your motor. Energy, recovery, hustle; the stuff that gets you noticed comes from being fully charged, not running on empty. You can't out-train bad sleep. The best players treat rest like part of the game. Because it is. ๐Ÿ€ One week out from the Canada camp. Come rested, come ready. Let's get to work. ๐Ÿ“ Catholic Central High School ๐Ÿ“… Mon Jun 29 to Fri Jul 3, 9:30 to 15:00 ๐ŸŽ‚ Ages 11 to 17 ๐Ÿ’ต $189 CAD ๐Ÿ”— forms.gle/6pfZUve4HjVXgdAi8 Pay by Interac or cash at Monday check in. #basketballtraining #athleterecovery #sleepperformance Lethbridge yql AlbertaBasketball talatabasketball youth basketball athlete recovery sleep performance Alberta camp

Want a scholarship? Want a contract? It's not about scoring. Everybody thinks points get you paid. They don't. Coaches have a roster full of guys who can score. What they're actually hunting for is the stuff that doesn't show up on the highlight reel. Here's what really gets you signed: - Rebounding. - Go get the ball. Effort on the glass tells a coach everything about your motor. You can't fake wanting it. - Hustle. - Dive on the floor. - Take the charge. - Sprint back on defense. Coaches notice the guy who plays every possession like it matters. Energy. Be the spark. The bench, the huddle, the timeout, your energy lifts the whole team. That's contagious. Team play. Make the extra pass. Set the screen. Talk on defense. Winning players make everyone around them better, and winning is what keeps coaches employed. The scorer gets the highlight. The complete player gets the scholarship and paycheque. Do the dirty work. This summer at the Canada camp, we train all of it; the motor, the IQ, the stuff that actually gets you noticed. ๐Ÿ“ Catholic Central High School ๐Ÿ“… Mon Jun 29 to Fri Jul 3, 9:30 to 15:00 ๐ŸŽ‚ Ages 11 to 17 ๐Ÿ’ต $249 CAD (camp tee included) ๐Ÿ”— forms.gle/6pfZUve4HjVXgdAi8 Pay by Interac or cash at Monday check in. #basketballrecruiting #collegebasketball #youthbasketball #basketballtraining #studentathlete basketballiq hustle rebounding Lethbridge yql AlbertaBasketball talatabasketball basketball recruiting scholarship hustle rebounding team play Alberta camp

Nobody is coming to find you; so go find them. The biggest mistake I see young players make? Sitting back, waiting to get noticed. That's not how it works. The talent gets you in the room, but the outreach gets you the door. Here's the move: Write the emails. Reach out to coaches directly. Short, professional, specific. Tell them who you are and why you fit their program. Make yourself available. Coaches can't recruit a ghost. Be reachable, be responsive, be easy to say yes to. Build your profile. Get an Instagram that shows your game highlights, who you are, what you do best. When a coach looks you up, give them a reason to keep watching. The players who get seen aren't always the most talented. They're the ones who did the work off the court too. This summer, we're putting it all into practice at the Canada camp. The game, the film, the IQ; everything you need to take the next step. ๐Ÿ“ Catholic Central High School ๐Ÿ“… Mon Jun 29 to Fri Jul 3, 9:30 to 15:00 ๐ŸŽ‚ Ages 11 to 17 ๐Ÿ’ต $249 CAD (camp tee included) ๐Ÿ”— forms.gle/6pfZUve4HjVXgdAi8 Pay by Interac or cash at Monday check in. #basketballrecruiting #collegebasketball #youthbasketball #basketballtraining #studentathlete basketballiq Lethbridge yql LethbridgeBasketball AlbertaBasketball talatabasketball Lethbridge yql basketball recruiting Alberta camp

In 2001 my family and I immigrated to Canada from Cairo. I didn't speak any English. I knew nobody. Just a kid from South Sudan (Sudan at the time) trying to figure out where I fit. Basketball didn't care where I was from. You show up, you play, you belong. That's where I made my first friends. That's where it started to feel like home. Years later I'm coaching in Europe, building @talatabasketball in Copenhagen, and now coming to where it all started. Same energy. Same open door. For every kid who needs a place to belong this summer. ๐Ÿ“ Catholic Central High School ๐Ÿ“… Mon Jun 29 to Fri Jul 3, 9:30 to 15:00 ๐ŸŽ‚ Ages 11 to 17 ๐Ÿ’ต $249 CAD (camp tee included) ๐Ÿ”— forms.gle/6pfZUve4HjVXgdAi8 Pay by Interac or cash at Monday check in. #Lethbridge #yql #LethbridgeBasketball #AlbertaBasketball #youthbasketball Lethbridge yql basketballalberta
