REA.D26 INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY DRAMA FESTIVAL

PROGRAM OCTOBER 10, 2026

16:30 Meet the playwright: Tale Næss (Norway)
Heidi Backström in conversation with Tale Næss

18:00 — We Are Scared, We Are Learning How to Count
By Jana Milivojević

Directed by Alisa Nirman
Actors: Tuike Oja, Sini Onne, Juha-Pekka Mikkola, Luthando Jamda, Satu Mikkelinen, Katrin Monikainen

Following Manja from childhood through her life, the play explores growing up in a world where love and joy offer no guarantee of safety. Shaped by a children’s counting song, it confronts violence against women and femicide, showing how violence can enter even a life that began in a loving home.

19:30 — The Miracles
By Agostina Luz López
Director: Vera Boitcova
Actors: Elina Jackson, Saimi Somerto, Sofia Stupenkova, Anastasia Trizna

Three generations of women—a grandmother, a mother and a daughter—revisit their family’s stories through the daughter Martina’s eyes. Memories become scenes, and everyday events grow into exaggeration and drama as Martina explores the maternal history she has inherited. When a friend arrives, the dynamics of both the family and the play begin to change.

Doors open at 16:20 for the discussion with Tale Naess, 17:40 for the 18:00 performance and at 19:10 for the 19:30 performance. The buffet is open during intermission.

No admission once the performances have started. Please arrive on time

REA.D26 INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY DRAMA FESTIVAL

PROGRAM OCTOBER 9, 2026

18:00 — [BLANK]
By Alice Birch
Presented by BONES Theater Group
Directed by Michael Wighton
Actors: Atli Benedikt, Julius Chavez, Fanny Paananen, Noora Sointu Vuorela

Built from 100 independent scenes that performers can freely select and combine, [BLANK] explores the lives of adults and children caught in failing social care and criminal justice systems. Alongside painful realities, it offers humour, hope and a search for empathy and love. BONES Theater Group presents a selection of 2–3 scenes as a staged reading.

19:30 — Kiribati Notes
By Tale Næss
Directed by Mika Leskinen
Actors: Tuija Hanhikoski, Mikko Laine, Alistair Logan, Eeva Putro, Aapo Salonen, Eljas Viitanen

A poetic and carnivalesque reflection on love, loss and life in a changing climate. Loosely inspired by a climate refugee’s court case, Kiribati Notes brings together Ivo, his wife, his lawyers, an island chief and a figure from Britain’s colonial past. The play explores how climate change and colonial history shape everyday lives, turning questions of survival into deeply personal and political struggles.

Jana Milivojević is a playwright and dramaturge from Belgrade, Serbia. She collaborates on theatre productions while developing her own dramatic texts. Her play We Are Scared, We Are Learning How to Count was selected by Eurodram and received the Slobodan Selenić Award for Best Graduation Play.
