It was nice to return to this dog park here in Coffs again. I came here earlier in the year when staying up at Bellingen. This time I am staying in Coffs itself, with two lovely dogs and a little old cat to look after. The dogs are Kaia and Morgan, two kelpies. I am on something of a mission here though. I want to see whether I can settle here, because my first few days have settled that this is where I want to be based if I want the best of both worlds between a creative life in Coffs with a corporate one I occasionally go back to in Sydney (but can ideally work remotely or be hybrid, staying in Sydney just a few days per week) That said, I did love my time on the Tasman Peninsula in Tasmania and have established the foundations for a unique sustainable transportation business that would support access to the whole community there as well as distribution of boutique product to elsewhere on the island and also to other states on the East Coast of mainland Australia. Indeed, a couple I met with their kelpie puppy here had stopped for a break on the way down from the Gold Coast to Tasmania to get married. The girl knew many of the same people I had met there too - including the family of the man from the couple I had stayed with! What are the chances of that? Is it a sign??! Still, I must stay true to my mission here - which is to commercialise my first coffee table book of dog tales, "Diary Of A Dogfather: Down Under". I have published and printed my first copy of it, which I gave to my nephew @jono_king2005 for his birthday. I am hoping Coffs, and Bellingen in particular because of its fame hosting Australia's largest readers and writers festival, are going to be good to me in getting this first coffee table book out there as well as source good contacts for a historical fiction book about a retreat for famous writers and artists in the UK #dogbooks #serendipity #australianodyssey #diaryofadogfather #greatdogparks

I went to get my first fish and chips this evening, since my return to Australia. The dogs somehow managed to get themselves in a tangle as we waited, a bit like that game that you play asa kid. Twister, I think it's called. They love getting out in the car I've hired. Apparently they don't like doing that with the owners, because they associate it with going to the vet. Hopefully we won't have to do that while they are with me! We had the fish and chips alfresco, on the verandah where I am staying. Neither the fish nor the chips were greasy, like they are in the UK, and I really appreciated the crispy golden brown batter on the fish. It was especially nice with lemon. Harry's Takeaway at Bomaderry did us proud! The dogs positioned themselves in an expert way, for snaffling chips, under the table on the verandah. They did a great job of convincing me to give them some! Somehow, I got the impression that this was not their first "fish a chip" rodeo. They are very sweet, and crack me up! #trustedhousesitter ##trustedhousesitters

It's the last Rosie Condo Café! It feels so sad, in some way. Rosie actually came when I told her it was open, and I gave her a pecan while I got everything else ready - but then she flew over to sit on my shoulder to inspect the preparations, as well as make sure she was getting her Nuttelex on toast. Today we have played calming classical music at the café, and it has made a good contrast. Rosie has learned the beginning of a classical tune that I have been whistling to her for the last few days. Unfortunately I cannot remember who composed it, so will share - via @talematts I have loved this first house-sit here in Bendigo. It's sad to say goodbye to Rosie, for now at least, and to the 3 chickens too (who I have named Fluffy Pants, Prudence and Miss Defy) Bendigo is an interesting place too. I loved the Great Stupa, and would like to go back there sone day for a proper visit #trustedhousesitters #trustedhousesitter

Clearly Rosie is the accessory I have been missing to complete my look. What would the look be for, and what would I call it? How about "outback pirate"? There has to be a story to go with it, and so maybe she is what I need to have the courage to bring back Matt's Tale, following the horrible and cruel hack of the device I used for that which took out a lot of the social media groups I had been putting together for philanthropic and humanitarian purposes in what I think has become a cold and rather cruel, transactional world. My contact with over 1000 people was lost in groups I had set up on LinkedIn, including content I had been curating connected with these people. It was based on what I believed was needed to understand what's going on right now, and determine the help needed to get us to understand it as well as find ways to work together to at least cope if not deal with the impact. Essentially it was about what we can do together to maintain a livelihood and resilience. Ironically, or not, it happened when I went to trial use of a particular AI to help me and others find work. The founders of it have shown no remorse, and my LinkedIn profile was changed to looking like I was someone working for a company pushing AI based out of Utah. It was all very weird, as well as cruel and callous. Matt's Tale was just collateral damage in this hack, because I think the hack was geared to stopping me doing anything through LinkedIn to source and bring together thought leadership to align human and environmental sustainability with community sustainability through the @eco_enabler_alliance It has thrown me nevertheless, because I did not think anyone or anything could be so cold or cruel to do what they have done to me and my profile. It completely blanks out what I have been trying to understand and develop over the past 3 years since discovery about Elinor Ostrom and her work to do the same, and avoid tragedy of the commons en masse. She proved it could be possible, and won a Nobel prize for it - but could this be a sign of the backlash against it, or was it just someone who is bitter and jaded with life, or just someone wanting to have a go at me?

Human and natural history has been closely intertwined at Wanstead Park since Victorian times, when the estate there was acquired by the City of London - Epping Forest. On walks around different parts of Epping Forest, some of the locals have shared what they understand to be the truth behind the acquisition and preservation of many of these sites. It is not a benevolent act by the wealthy Victorians as it may seem. The story goes that Wanstead Park was one of the many places in North East London sold to the City of London Corporation for Epping Forest, by either Royal or rich people, due to the smog in East London. This smog was created by coal-fired industry in North and East London, and when it was discovered that when the winds blew West to East and created health issues for these people, they abandoned the places enshrouded in it. @coleppingforest , is this true?? Some of the rich Victorians (like Lord Shaftesbury and Sir William Morris) appreciated the impact of this dirty air on more than just themselves and their own health and wellbeing, so they tried to do things to help the factory workers and their families by organising train trips up to Loughton in Essex, where they could have a day out and get fresh air in the forest. These are just two of the many stories I have discovered about the basis for preserving these places, as well as Victorian efforts to clean up the dirty air due to coal-fired industry, from meeting and talking to fellow dogwalking locals on my walks with Bella. Fortunately, things are a lot cleaner and fresher in North and East London nowadays , so the legacy of those dark and dirty times is gone, replaced with a pleasant place for us all to appreciate. I hope that @eco_enabler_alliance can both raise awareness of the good work done to restore the natural heritage of England as much as preserve human history. Indeed, I hope TEA and its Eco-Enablers can go further in finding ways to align human and natural sustainability by creating and aligning better ways for us to work and live within Nature, or alongside it ecosystemically, where a beautiful balance can be sustained. #eppingforestautumn24 #conservation #Sustainability

That's not a pond!! THiS is a pond!!!! An Australian might say. At what point does a big puddle become a pond, though? Yesterday, @bella_boo_cavapoochon and I saw ducks swimming in one of the big puddles, which still remain after the heavy rains around the opposite side of the path around our favourite watery walk in Epping Forest. Ironically, in some ways, the scenery around the trees, now enveloped by water, was more dramatic and pretty than looking the other way at the pond you are supposed to have come to see - but is it a good thing or a bad thing, @coleppingforest ? How can the trees cope with all the extra water - and does this now start to count as being a wetland instead of being a forest, and so require a different kind of ecoiogist than the commoners and foresters you would typically have on your team? Climate change is likely to lead to such ecological change - but should it be allowed to happen, and us adjust around it - or should we interfere, and try (perhaps literally) to hold back the tide? King Cnut didn't have that power..... #climatechange #climateemergency #climatechangeawareness #risingwater #eppingforest #eppingforestwalks #eppingforestspring2024 #eppingforestspring24
