LACED WITH HISTORY Brash imagery of shaven skulls, cavalries of scooters or leather fetish-wear may appear tough and threatening, but the underground is a fragile phenomenon. How do you define something which is hidden? Ever elusive, attempts to grapple with the underground are magnificently futile. Somewhere in that intangible frequency between absence and presence, the underground resides. UNDERGROUND - OUR MISSION IS TO PROPOGATE BRITAIN’S REBELLIOUS UNDERGROUND STYLE HERITAGE Underground is more than a shoe brand; it’s a cultural statement. Born in Manchester and raised on the music and subcultures that shaped Britain and beyond, our footwear is rooted in rebellion, individuality, and attitude. From the Original Wulfrun Creeper to our Steel Cap boots, we create for the outsiders, the misfits, and the music obsessives. UNDERGROUND - THE ORIGINAL STEEL CAP. A BRITISH SUBCULTURE ICON. Our mission is to preserve and propagate Britain’s rebellious underground style heritage. Underground is more than a footwear brand; it is a connection to the people, places and movements that shaped modern British culture. Born in Manchester in 1981, our footwear grew from the streets, the music and the subcultures that refused to follow the mainstream. From the Original Wulfrun Creeper to our iconic Steel Cap boots, we create for outsiders, originals and those who wear their identity with pride. The steel cap was born in Britain’s factories, foundries and shipyards, built for working lives, designed for protection and adopted by a generation that transformed utility into style. When skinheads emerged in the 1960s, the steel-capped boot became part of a new uniform: sharp, practical and unmistakably working class. Worn with pride, polished to perfection and connected to the sounds of ska, reggae and soul, it became a symbol of attitude and belonging. The image of shaved heads, sharp silhouettes, scooters and heavy boots may appear intimidating from the outside. But subculture has never been about appearance alone. It is about community, music, independence and the creation of identity away from the mainstream. The underground cannot be manufactured or defined. It exists in the spaces between generations, passed through music, clothing and IRL experiences. It evolves, disappears and reappears, always changing, always alive. #BritishSubculture #steelcap boots #undergroundengland #theunderground #originalsteelcap Laced with history by @gareth_long and @taliahow
