I may not show it or say it much … but I’m really proud of the commitment Talia has put into this fight camp . The maturity and discipline she has demonstrated has been impressive. Trisha has taken on more coaching responsibilities of late … providing balance, alongside Matua Rusty, Grant and George.
Five weeks to go before fight night. We know Talia has to knock her opponent out to get the decision in Australia - we are under no illusions of what is required and how skilled her opponent is. This will be a huge challenge for Talia … so every day is about making sure we put the steps in place to achieve this.

Week 2 in fight camp. Blessed to have Trisha Vaka always supporting the kaupapa (journey). Trisha has retired from professional boxing, - yet has encouraged Talia to challenge herself in the pro game again. @lanijack77 finally received her IBF WORLD TITLE BELT last night at the awards dinner. Such a proud moment to witness!!!!!
I was also awarded a belt (mini size) for being the first IBF FEMALE CHAMPION to coach an IBF Female Champion. Engraved on my belt is mine and Lani names, alongside the date we made World History. They introduced me as a trail blazer of our sport. I feel it is only fitting to pay respects to the true trail blazers that made this moment possible.
Just when you think you are content with retirement …. I don’t think there is such a thing when you love the sport of boxing.
