HBCUAC PRESEASON RANKINGS: TALLADEGA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PICKED SECOND!

Talladega College women’s basketball is preparing for another championship pursuit! The Tornadoes received 169 points and two first-place votes to claim second place in the HBCU Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll.

Coming off a 17–10 season, an HBCUAC tournament runner-up finish and an appearance in the 2026 NAIA National Tournament, Talladega is looking to build on its success with tough defense and increased scoring.

Returning wing Kiersten Usher and forward Jakalynn McGinnis bring valuable experience. Incoming wing Ty’Veonna Davis brings an 18-point scoring average, while Georgia Gwinnett transfer Madison Presha averaged seven rebounds per game. Both newcomers are expected to strengthen the Tornadoes’ offensive production.

The goals this season: lead the NAIA in points allowed and average 78 points per game while pursuing a conference championship and another national tournament berth.

Head Coach Andre Payne enters his third season at Talladega and his 24th year as a head coach, bringing 28 years of coaching experience. Talladega’s athletics culture and the opportunity to be close to family helped draw him to the program.

The journey begins Saturday, October 24, when the Tornadoes open their season on the road against Truett McConnell University!

Tornado Nation, show your support as our women hit the court for a new season!
