We were all sold a story about how these entrepreneurs made it from scratch. I bought this story when I was in engineering college. We were all told that we just had to work hard. We just had to be brave. We just had to be innovative. And we all worshipped these people. I did. Jobs. Gates. Musk. Zuckerberg.

But they weren't successful because they were smarter than the rest of us. Take a closer look at their lives. Zuckerberg made a website to rank women based on their attractiveness. He got around $100,000 from his father to build Facebook. The litany of all the horrible things he has done and is doing is all over the internet.

Gates (and Microsoft)got a contract from IBM because his mother knew the then IBM chairman. Musk? He's not an engineer. He's a white supremacist whose father made money out of an apartheid era emerald mine in South Africa. And there's clearly documented history of him committing fraud, enabling literal Nazis, and destroying lives. Jobs? He colluded with Google, Adobe and other companies so that his employees couldn't go to other companies for more pay. And there's more.

We were sold a story of rare genius. But the actual story is that of a lack of morality, fraud, and generational wealth. And really good PR. And their first start didn't happen because they were exceptionally brave. It happened because they could afford to fail. They could afford to drop out of College, start a business, and everything else, because even if they failed, they would only fall so much.

I won't recommend it, but you want a hero? Take a look at the workers from North India working to build a better life for their families. With almost no protections. Or a safety net. Or you take a look at the man who has been on a fast for more than two weeks for all of us. And no personal gain. The rest of them? They're lying to you. So that they could exploit you.

Had the opportunity to go back to my own college and conduct a UI/UX workshop for first-year students at Al-Azhar College of Arts and Science on 10/03/2026 😎😊

As part of my work at Talrop, I often take sessions for students through Steyp, Talrop’s education venture that conducts different educational programs for students as part of the startup ecosystem. But taking a session in the same college where my journey started felt truly special 🎓✨

During my college days, I didn’t get many early opportunities to explore the tech industry. So being able to share insights about UI/UX, design thinking, and tech career paths with students was a meaningful experience 💡🚀
