Some songs come together quickly. Others take years to finally become what they were always supposed to be.

“This Is What You Wanted” started as a heart-wrenching breakup poem written by Chase the Bear drummer Connor and brought to life through Troy’s vocals. The song moves from asking, “Is this what you wanted?” to finally accepting, “This is what you wanted.”

The band had the bones of this song for years, constantly coming back to it until everything finally clicked. And with this one, you can hear Chase the Bear starting to push into some new territory too, leaning more into keyboards and different textures instead of building everything from the guitars up.

Coming right off the release of “Isolation,” “This Is What You Wanted” feels like another step forward for the band.

Our friends in Chase the Bear have a chance to play the NXNE Stage at the CNE this September, but they need your votes to help make it happen.

The great thing is you can vote once per day, per email address, so if you’ve been enjoying what Chase the Bear has been putting out, taking 30 seconds to vote each day could make a real difference.

As an independent label, moments like this matter. Opportunities like these can put a band in front of thousands of new fans, and we’d love to see Chase the Bear get that chance.

If you can, please hit the voting link, cast your vote, and share this with anyone else who wants to support independent Canadian rock.

Let’s help get Chase the Bear to the CNE.
