Ingredientes

* 6 chiles poblanos
* 400–500 g de queso mozzarella — yo usé marca Mambi
* Palillos de madera (opcional)
* Aceite

Para la salsa roja:

* 6 tomates
* ½ cebolla grande
* 2 dientes de ajo
* Caldo de pollo o 1 cubito de pollo
* Sal al gusto
* Pimienta al gusto
* Agua

Preparación

For Israel, the struggle did not begin on October 7th, in 1948, or even in modern history. It stretches back to the days when Moses led the Jewish people out of Egypt toward the Promised Land. Although he never set foot in it himself, he guided the Jewish people to the land that, according to the Torah, God had promised them. From that moment until today, Jewish history has been a story of perseverance, sacrifice, and an unending fight to exist in the homeland entrusted to us.

That is why this conversation between the lion and God touched me so deeply. To me, the lion represents the Lion of Zion, Israel itself. God’s answer is not necessarily the one we want to hear, but perhaps the one we need. He reminds us that suffering has a purpose, that struggle builds resilience, and that pain gives birth to wisdom.

If that is true, then Israel is living one of history’s greatest paradoxes. At one of its darkest moments, it is also shining like never before. Never has Israel faced such relentless attacks, not only from terrorists and armies, but from propaganda, conspiracy theories, and accusations spreading across the world. Yet it continues to defend life, innovate, rebuild, and refuse to break.

Still, every Jew carries the same question.

Will we ever be truly happy again?

For us, happiness has never been about power or conquest. It has always come down to one simple word: peace. That is all we have ever truly wanted.

People often mock the idea that the Jews are the Chosen People. I don’t. I believe we are chosen not because we are better than anyone else, but because history has repeatedly placed upon us some of humanity’s heaviest responsibilities. We are called to rebuild after destruction, choose life after unimaginable loss, and carry hope when hope itself seems impossible.

I still have more questions than answers, but I choose trust over despair. I trust Hashem. Better days are coming.

And perhaps Jewish happiness was never meant to look like everyone else’s. Perhaps ours is something deeper. Not the absence of struggle, but the presence of God through it. A resilient joy. A sacred joy.

Between the bad news, the terrible news, the horrendous news, the heartbreaking news, and the downright despicable news, I felt the need to pause and share something that heals instead of hurts. Something that reminds us who we are, where we come from, what unites us, and why, despite everything, our spirit has never been broken.

The truth is, we could spend every hour of every day sharing nothing but tragedy. There is no shortage of it. Every minute seems to bring another headline capable of stealing our hope. But I refuse to let darkness be the only thing that fills these pages. I want to leave behind little islands of light. Places I can return to when my own heart feels heavy. Places I can send to someone who is hurting, hoping a melody can succeed where words cannot.

Yerushalayim Shel Zahav is far more than a song. It is memory. It is longing. It is identity. It is the heartbeat of a people who have carried Jerusalem in their prayers, their tears, and their dreams for thousands of years. Every note feels like coming home.

So today, I leave this here for you and for me.

May your days be as golden as Jerusalem, as sweet as honey, and may your heart always find its way back to hope.

Yerushalayim Shel Zahav.

Leshanah haba’ah b’Yerushalayim.
