The Hive
Day 4 of the Big Nine.
We are knocking out most of the movie in this nine day stretch of filming.
Today was a father/daughter day of breakfast, dock time, and a nice leisurely warm swim.
Oh! And Jimmy made it into the reel!! #actor #behindthescenes #thriller #coldwater #rickroll

My first experience on a real film set, and somehow it already feels like more than just a beginning.

Being part of The Hive gave me my first real step into the world of filmmaking and everything that goes into it. I’m incredibly grateful to @mrjimmyblanco & @shawnalexanderthompson for giving me this opportunity and welcoming me into this process. Your belief and guidance mean more than you know.

I’ve met some truly amazing people along the way, people I’m lucky enough to now call friends, and I’ve learned so much just by being present, observing, and doing. This journey isn’t over yet. We still have more scenes to bring to life before The Hive heads into post, and I couldn’t be more excited to see how the entire feature comes together.

So much BTS still to come, and I can’t wait to keep sharing the journey. 🐝🎬

Edit: Sorry the audio got cut out in the videos. Go to next post to view all of them 😅

Last week I had the privilege of participating in the annual peacemakers mediation competition at Maharishi International University. During the tournament I took part in three rounds in which I took on the roles of an attorney, a client, and a mediator. I learned more about the mediation process and the creative solutions available as alternatives to the court process.

As a whole, UCF took home 10 awards. I received an individual award for my mediation round. The team of three students that I was part of came in fourth for our client/advocate rounds and second for our mediatior rounds.

Day Seven of this stretch of filming The Hive.

@shawnalexanderthompson said set was on lockdown as far as bts goes, but I managed to sneak some things out for y’all! Don’t tell Shawn!!!

The sexy rooster stole the show.

Do I get away with it or does Shawn find me out?!

I am beyond honored that Shawn trusted me to bring Robert Jenkins to life on screen. I don’t know why you looked at me two years ago and thought I could handle this role, but I am so so glad you did. I didn’t know I could bring all these emotions to screen, but you somehow did. Thank you.

It’s been a journey from your first mention of this idea to the “final” script. It’s been magical watching this story come to life.

The people I’ve met on this set will be friends for life. The struggles, the honesty, the vulnerability, and all the emotions we shared made this a family.

I couldn’t have done this without what life threw at me this past year, without Sherita Starks at Ivana Chubbuck Studio helping me find real emotions in these scenes, and without Shawn Thompson deciding I was Robert Jenkins on the day he met me.

Thank you.

I can’t wait to see the final cut.

I’m not crying. You’re crying.
