🎓 OFFICIALLY A POLICE ACADEMY GRADUATE! 👮🏾‍♀️

Wow… I can’t believe I can finally say that. After starting this journey in January, eight months of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and countless hours of training have brought me to this moment.
Today, I’m standing tall and proud after completing 1,154 hours of training at the Miami Police Training Center and earning a 96.2% GPA.
This journey challenged me mentally, physically, and emotionally, but I pushed through every obstacle and never lost sight of the goal.

Some of the accomplishments I’m proud to have completed:
• 🎯 1154 training hours
• 📚 96.2% GPA
• 🔫 Firearms training
• 🥋 Defensive tactics training
• 🩹 First Aid training
• 🚔 Vehicle Operations training
• ☣️ OC/chemical agent exposure training
• 🥊 Boxing exposure/training
• ⚡ Taser exposure/training
• 🎬 Realistic scenario-based training
• 💪 Extensive physical fitness training
• 🔍 Passed final inspections
• ✅ Met all standards set by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC)
• 🎓 Met the standards required by the Florida Department of Education

This accomplishment represents so much more than a graduation certificate. It represents the early mornings, late nights, setbacks, sacrifices, discipline, and determination it took to get here.
I’m extremely grateful for everyone who supported me throughout this journey. One chapter is officially complete, and another one is just beginning.

Once upon a time, two girls decided to visit a waterfall that many Japanese people consider sacred.

Not so cute story.…

Google Maps took us to the top of the waterfall instead of the basin.

What should’ve been a five-minute walk somehow turned into an hour detour.

So instead of peacefully admiring nature, we spent our day climbing slopes, crossing streams, walking across soft wooden bridges hoping we don’t fall through, brushing worms off our shirts, almost sliding down the mountain from the dead end, holding onto bridgewire for our dear lives, running from sounds in the woods, seeing faces in the tunnel stones, and accidentally stepping on a few unlucky baby crabs🥺

The whole time, nobody knew where we were. There was nobody else around. Just us trying to figure out how to get to a waterfall we could hear but couldn’t see.

Just when we had accepted defeat and decided to call it a day, we somehow found our way back down through the camping grounds, and as if it had been waiting for us all along, there was Kototaki.

Looking at these clips, you’d think we just took a nice little waterfall hike in Japan.

You’d be wrong. But at least we got our happily ever after🖋️

I don’t think my family realizes how much it meant to me that they accompanied me through this transition into a new chapter of my life.

from Hawaii to Japan, they stayed beside me until it was finally time to let go.

watching that subway pull away after saying goodbye was the moment everything became real. the fun was over. the comfort was over. and suddenly, i was standing in a country far away from everything i’ve ever known.

but even in that sadness, i felt blessed.

blessed to have people who love me enough to support my dreams.blessed enough to experience something bigger than myself.blessed enough to step into the unknown even when it’s scary.

And for the ones who couldn’t physically be here with me, they’ve still been with me every single step of the way through the calls, prayers, encouragement, support, and love.

I don’t fully know what God brought me here to accomplish yet… but i know this journey means something.

and now, it’s time to find out 🇯🇵

Day 2: A Serendipitous Stop at Bethune-Cookman University

Our visit to Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach was originally planned as a self-guided tour — but in true HBCU spirit, the campus experience became so much more.

Two Mass Communications majors, Zyona and Miya, graciously stepped in and turned what could have been a quiet walk through campus into a personal, heartfelt journey. They walked us through the heart of their university, sharing candid stories of life as HBCU students and the pride that comes with carrying on Bethune-Cookman’s legacy.

To close, Tamia gave our group an inside look at the Mass Communications Department — where unity is at the core, and students are the storytellers behind the university’s news, newspapers, flyers, and social media presence.

What began as a simple self-guided tour became a living lesson in hospitality, leadership, and the unshakable bonds of the HBCU family.
