PUBLIC STATEMENT ON FILM CREW WELFARE AND SAFETY IN NIGERIA

The people behind the camera deserve more than recognition; they deserve protection, dignity, and care.

As we mourn the loss of one of our crew members, we are reminded of the risks, sacrifices, and uncertainties faced by the technical professionals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring our stories to life.

This moment calls for more than sympathy. It calls for action.

We need stronger advocacy for film crew welfare, improved safety standards on production sets, access to insurance and emergency support, and a system that ensures crew members and their families are not left helpless when tragedy strikes.

Through CAVIS Nigeria 27 — Creative Arts, Visuals and Imaging Summit, we seek to create a platform where industry practitioners, guilds, producers, government, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders can come together to address these concerns and develop practical, sustainable solutions.

Our crew members are not invisible. They are the backbone of our creative industry, and their lives, welfare, and contributions matter.

We therefore call on all relevant stakeholders to join this conversation and help turn our concerns into meaningful commitments.

Let us honour our departed colleague not only with words, but with action.

Behind every great production is a crew. It is time to stand behind the crew, too.

CAVIS Nigeria 27
Connect. Inspire. Advocate. Build.

Open Letter to the Nigerian Film Industry (The Technical Departments):

It is not the script supervisors/Continuity Managers duties to narrate a story for any actors (both on set or off set) once you have your script as an actor, u know what next to do.

The Scripty/Continuity Managers is different from story narrations, a Big No. 📌

Everybody were hire differently for there jobs, as they called/hired you to act (your profession), another profession as a Script Supervisor/Continuity Manager is also there to represent is own Departments accordingly.

Professionalism is very vital, but always they will just call you to explain script for them as if they will share part of the money they collected for you, and they collected huge money (charges per day) when the (Script Supervisors/Continuity Managers) collects peanut and still they won't rest brain till location finish.

Script Supervisors/Continuity Managers Department is very important, they are the central aide of crew and acts as a central point for all productions on a film shoot and also representing the Editor's (Visual Artist) on set.

We can do better pls. 🎬 🖋 📙
