Attention TAMs students! Join us on September 24 in your very own McConnell Hall to get more feedback on your college applications! This event is primarily meant for student applying to UT Austin, so we will host a similar event on October 22 (post to come) for applications due Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.

We’re very proud that all three of the brilliant @tams.unt students who received the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship this year have been studying under COS researchers! Congratulations to Aniruth Ananthanarayanan, who worked with @untphysics’ Dr. Guru Khalsa to investigate various problems in theoretical physics through the lens of group theory and computational modeling; Pavan Ahluwalia, who created a passivation-coating process for aluminum to mitigate bi-metallic corrosion in copper-aluminum wire bonds in the @untchem lab of Dr. Oliver Chyan; and Bradley Lin, whose has been working on developing safer chemicals in the solvation lab of Dr. William Acree. (Bradley is the eleventh Goldwater Scholar Dr. Acree has mentored in the past fifteen years of his career, and another reason to celebrate the Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Award he received earlier this year!)

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship is one of the nation’s highest honors for students pursuing careers in science, engineering and mathematics, and this year’s honorees bring @unt’s total number of Goldwater Scholars to 79, the highest among all Texas universities, public or private!

What a meaningful event weekend!💙

On Saturday, @holidaycheerforseniors & Fair Oaks of Denton hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Event celebrating the incredible individuals who make a difference in our community every day.

A special thank you to @modernwoodmen1883 for recognizing our Hometown Heroes, sponsoring refreshments, & providing a matching $1,000 donation for a silent auction.
Proceeds from the auction benefit Holiday Cheer for Seniors & @freedomfoodpantry , helping support seniors in our community.

We were honored to hear from Mayor @gerardfordenton , who spoke about the importance of volunteers & the value of our senior population.
Dr. James Duban, Associate Dean of @tams.unt Honors College, shared insights on the impact of volunteerism & intergenerational programs. @gabriellebeebe of Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial presented Community Hometown Hero awards, & Maria Jones of @dentonfreedomhouse highlighted how Freedom Food Pantry provides vital food assistance to seniors.

It was a successful & inspiring event, & we are grateful to be part of a community that honors seniors, celebrates volunteers, & works together to make a lasting impact!

All good things must come to an end...

From counting down the semesters, to months, to weeks, and now just a few more days... the time has come.

Over the last three years, I have been rigorously working towards my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of North Texas.

As a First-Generation student raised by a single mom, I was not sure how successful I would be on this journey.

Through trying semesters, hard tasks, and long nights, I can wrap up by saying I did my big one.

My time here at UNT has not been spent in vain. I am proud to have served as an Orientation Leader, a TAMS Resident Assistant, an Honors College Mentor, an officer for an honor society, and a Research Assistant.

I am so honored to have touched so many lives, and I thank every single person who has allowed me to do so.

I have a village of people to thank:

- Mom: You have always been. continue to be, and will forever be, my biggest supporter. Thank you so much for doing everything possible for me. You have been my ride-or-die since day one. I love you so much.

- Family: Thank you all so much for being alongside me my entire life. Your support means so much to me.

- Professors: This genuinely would not have been possible without you all. Your collective ability to touch lives through academia is something I find to be very special. Whether I took seven classes with you or even just one, thank you for being there.

- Student Coworkers: Whether past or current, each of you has impacted my life significantly. I have learned so much from all of you on various matters. You all have helped shape me not only professionally but also in my overall growth.

As I say goodbye to UNT, I am filled with many memories and a heavy sense of nostalgia.

While this chapter of my life storybook closes, the next one opens; a very special thank you to @bayloruniversity and @baylorschoolpsych, for letting me pursue my next journey with you.

Much love to you all; remember to reach for the stars and beyond.

Today, thanks to the hard work of @lsmsaathletics, we welcome students from @armathsciarts, @tams.unt, and @msmsbluewaves for the 32nd (!!!) annual SLAMT. This event brings together #LSMSA and our sister schools/friendly rivals each spring for a competition that typically includes highly competitive events in sports like volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer, and table tennis. 🥳 Welcome to Natchitoches, y'all! Follow @natchitochestourism for local tips, and don't eat too many meat pies before tournament play begins. 🤣
