Standing with the world, quite literally 🌍

This Earth Day, I am reflecting on what it means to study, understand, and care for the spaces we live in. Being at the American Association of Geographers conference reminded me that geography is not just about maps or places, but about people, environments, and the connections that shape our future.

As researchers and global citizens, we have a responsibility to ask better questions, tell better stories, and work toward more just and sustainable worlds.

Happy Earth Day 🌱
Let’s keep doing the work.

I’m excited to share that I recently presented my research at the @theaag American Association of Geographers (AAG) Annual Meeting in San Francisco.

My presentation, “Ecologies of Care: Black Geographies and the More-than-Human City,” explores how urban gardens are not just spaces for food production, but sites where race, environment, governance, and multispecies relationships intersect.

Drawing on Black geographies, political ecology, Scinece and Technology and more-than-human scholarship, this work examines how communities engage with land, negotiate access, and imagine alternative environmental futures in the city.

I am thankful to the @tamugeography for this opportunity and to my advisor John Casellas Connors for his guidance and support.

I also appreciate the thoughtful feedback, engaging conversations, and new connections from this experience. I look forward to continuing to develop this work.

I am incredibly proud and beyond excited to announce that I have graduated from Texas A&M University!

My college experience was truly a dream come true and something that I could never have achieved without the constant support of my family and friends.

To everyone who supported me along the way, thank you for every kind word, every bit of encouragement, and for believing in me when I needed it most.

To my mom and dad, no words can fully capture the depth of my gratitude. Thank you for every sacrifice, every moment of support, and every ounce of love you’ve poured into me over the past four years. I couldn’t have done this without you. I love you both so much, and I can’t wait to make you even prouder in the next chapter of my life.

Es un logro que hice por mí, pero dedicado para ustedes.
