Some of the best parts of travelling through Africa happen around a table.

A long lunch after a morning in the bush. Fresh seafood with the ocean in front of you. Breakfast before heading out for the day. Dinner shared with people you’ve just met.

And then there’s everything that comes with it - local flavours, different traditions, the people preparing the food, and the places that give each meal its own character.

From the bush to the coast, from the winelands to the islands, food is part of the experience in all sorts of different ways across Classic Portfolio.

Tanda Tula means "love the quiet" in Shangaan, and the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve has a way of making that easy.

The Timbavati shares an open, unfenced border with Kruger, which means the wildlife moves as it always has, unaware of boundaries. A morning game drive here can feel unhurried in a way that is particular to this part of the Greater Kruger, the bush thick and generous, the sightings close. The leopard that holds its gaze for a moment longer than expected. The giraffe moving quietly at the edge of what the eye can reach.

Between drives, the camp settles into stillness. Glass walls open the suites to the treeline, private plunge pools catching the afternoon heat, the bush close enough to hear but not crowding.

And when the dry riverbed is set for dinner, lanterns arranged across the pale sand and the dark pressing in at the edges, it becomes the kind of evening that a photograph cannot quite hold.

It is a place that takes its name seriously, and delivers on it. 🌿

We just love Tanda Tula so much. 🤍

There’s something about this place that is really hard to put into words. Every little corner has been thought about and so beautifully put together, but it still feels completely natural and at home in the bush.

And then there’s the team… they really do feel like family. Nothing is ever too much, and somehow they always seem to know what you need before you even ask. It’s the kind of service that feels so genuine and effortless, and makes you feel incredibly looked after without ever being over the top.

I think that’s what we love most about Tanda Tula. It’s the little details, the people, the incredible setting and the feeling you get when you’re there. Every square inch has been created with so much thought and love, and together it makes the most magical luxury safari.
