TANGA is a bombastic world fusion mob mixing up tropical dance beats with Afro Funk, Colombian Cumbia and Cuban Jazz. Formed in 2007 by trumpeter/producer Malcolm Aiken, TANGA emerged from a collective of musicians blending salsa dura, jazz and pop music. Inspired by the party grooves and percussion styles of Latin legends like Tito Puente, Machito and Mario Bauza, they released their first full-length album Simmer & Serve in 2009.

This little band of brothers did me such a huge solid over the past three days. Kidnapped me outta my bass chair at church, had my schedule settled for my absence, put a drink in my hand and drove me to Fairmont Chateau Whistler for the first of three days of golf, beers and bro’s. We ate like #kings and slept like #lions and played some of the least impressive golf of our lives. I’m overwhelmed and filled w gratitude for having these kick ass buddies. @trilojay @grooventonic

Well that was a weekend to remember. My head is still buzzing with all the music I had to memorize over the past couple weeks with all these bands, but man was it worth it. ❤️💗❤️

One of the attractions of the first day of #CSOL is @tangaband presenting its world fusion music in the best #LatinStyle. Mixing Caribbean beats, east African Marimba, Colombian electrocumbia and Guatemalan dancehall the band also has influence of jazz, pop and salsa to create a refreshing and upbeat atmosphere in their live presentations.
Christian Martinez (vocals), Sangito Bigelow (vocals & congas & marimba), Jay Esplana (keyboards), Chris Couto (drums), Malcolm Aiken (trumpet), Adam Popowitz (guitar), and Matt Reid (bass) have been playing together for over 10 years. Reencarnación, their most recent album, is inspired by their musical travels in Ecuador and is on the #lineup of the #mainstage on July 7th.

Check more about @tangaband on tangaband.com to get ready and let’s #shinetogether. Watch a special invitation from London
