POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday was a hard one. After a restless night & clear discomfort, I took Newman the Human to the vet in the morning not expecting them to see a blockage requiring immediate surgery. I hugged him & told him that he would be ok and I would be back, but what they found was cancer, and it was inoperable. The only humane thing to do was to put him to sleep instead of waking him back up to say goodbye. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement. I’ve laid here all night thinking about what a gift he was to me and to our family. My 20th wedding anniversary present from my husband, he has made the house so much less lonely in spite of boys graduating & moving out and a husband away for work. What I would give to see him lose his mind again when he hears Jackson pull in from college, or his favorite afternoon activity to “Go get Lu” from school or to see him wrestle Tan like a pro. I’d give up every leg rest and watch every rug get messed up as his chosen blanket. I’d readily sacrifice all the Thanksgiving pies and cookies he confiscated & clean up every bathroom he raided looking for toilet paper. I would happily hang myself off the edge of my bed while he took up Robert’s whole side and mine every week night. What I would give to see his face at the door as I pull out and the only dog I’ve ever known to smile every single time I come home…. To watch Mallie save her last bite of cat food every morning for him in exchange for a bite of his dog food. And I would tell him, if I could, that he is the very best dog friend I’ve ever had, and he loved & protected us all so well until the very last day. I miss you, sweet boy ❤️

Wrapped up the final week of EBA Summer Missions! Thank you, Jesus, for your perfect sacrifice. Thank you to each of our summer camps for allowing us to come the past 6 weeks! These kids are forever imprinted on our hearts. Big thanks to Duck Springs Baptist for allowing us to serve with you for VBS. What a wonderful church family! Big thanks to a community leader for donating your lake house to our crew for the debriefing retreat this weekend. We had the best time celebrating National Ice Cream day at the Blue Bell factory with free scoops, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and the cooking teams knocked each meal out of the park plus a birthday party for our own Micah, compliments of the Piggly Wiggly. We especially enjoyed serving and worshiping together at First Baptist Eclectic!

How do you sum up 7 weeks of daily ministry & missions? Impossible… but here goes: partnered with 13 churches, 10 VBS’s, 3 weekly summer camps, 1 music camp, I daycare program, 4 ministry centers, 3 neighborhood canvases, 1 wk of park ministry, 1 block party, weekly Bible Study & staff meeting… 18 teenage missionaries, God called 4 to vocational ministry/missions, countless gospel conversations, & TWENTY DECISIONS to follow Christ this summer! 🙌 God is so good. We are forever grateful!

Finally after 12 years of good times and bad times, happy and sad times, hard assignments and long nights, arguments and heartbreaks, late night lore drops and early morning classes. We’ve finally done it. I wouldn’t change a single thing throughout it all. I’m so proud to call these people my friends and to have shared this journey with them. Wherever life takes us I pray God watches over us on our separate paths and that we find success in whatever we may do.
