Tuesday night was a crazy one; thank you to everyone who made time this week to come celebrate our NY shop renovation and reopening. The @johnniewalkerus strawberry highballs and espresso martinis were flowing, the @kirinichibanusa cans were eliminated in an hour, and @mgoldstein supplied the tunes. But the best part was the people: friends of ours from all walks of life who came together to connect, reconnect and share some time together on a perfect fall evening.

If you haven't had a chance to swing by and visit 190 Elizabeth yet, now's as good a time as any. We're open 12-7 daily.

@magdabutrym presented SS27 in New York under the title Natalia, marking her NYFW debut almost fifty years after Polish artist Natalia LL arrived in the city in 1977.

Natalia LL’s Consumer Art series provides the central reference, with its treatment of femininity, desire and the female gaze. Butrym extends those ideas through roses, rosary pearls, domestic dressing and memories of women dressing formally at home. Warsaw’s Siren and the flower carpets made in Spycimierz also appear among the collection’s Polish references.

How much does the Natalia LL reference change the way you see Butrym’s existing treatment of femininity and sexuality?

The collection centres on a woman controlling her own image, desire and contradictions. Crushed roses recur throughout, while religious objects sit alongside domestic glamour and sexual provocation. The show also coincides with the opening of @magdabutrym’s New York flagship.

Does Natalia LL take Butrym somewhere more specific?
