💭 i’ve been trying to try Tano’s pastries FOREVER, especially their korean-style salt breads, so when i saw they were collabing with one of my favorite local businesses, i knew i had to go 🫡

Tano is a pop-up bakery known for its creative asian-inspired pastries, with a menu that changes depending on the pop-up 🥐

we tried the double double salt bread with wagyu beef, animal sauce, grilled onions & cheese, the pumpkin spice kabocha salt bread, filipino breakfast focaccia with longanisa & crispy garlic rice, banoffee croissant tart, sesame toffee chocolate chip cookie, and salted maple pumpkin cornbread 👀

the salt breads + filipino breakfast focaccia were my favorites and definitely what i’d recommend!! i’d personally skip the cornbread, but i love how inventive their flavor combinations are and how they’re constantly switching up the menu 🤎

pro tip: GET THERE EARLY!! we arrived an hour before opening and the line got long fast. they also sold out of certain items really quickly, so plan accordingly 🏃🏻‍♀️ + check out @tano__sf ‘s page to see where they’ll be next:)

it feels good to bake again. this is my 28 hr RT fermentation ( again, adapted from @mushypeaz and tweaked ) but it spent a day or two in the fridge after bulk due to dad duties. sauce > basil > mozz > more sauce ( tip from @akpizzaguy ).

tried a couple new camera shots. should I keep them going? also will be planning on a drop in the month of November or December based on demand, if my local followers see this at all give me a dm or a comment if you’re interested in a drop.

also included a few sf places that we checked out in the past weekish: @nau_coffee pop up at @millay.sf , @holynataofficial , @tano__sf (thank you @katielaau_ !), the jambon-beurre at @fattedcalf is fantastic, and the passionfruit monkey bread at @breadbellysf 💛

📍paperson coffee + tano, san francisco, ca

🥐 coconut candy chocolate croissant: The filling has consistency of almond paste used for almond croissants, meanwhile the young coconut flavor blends well with the chocolate. Usually, chocolate is the selfish main character but the young coconut held its own and did not disapppoint. I loved the candy glaze texture inside. 4/5

I knew I should have woken up earlier for the salt bread... 😅 because of course they were sold out before I arrived.

📍Paperson Coffee x Tano - San Francisco

I went to @papersoncoffee and @tano__sf for some coffee + pastries! They’re located downtown in FiDi and you can get coffee/other drinks from Paperson and the baked goods from Tano, and both are in the same establishment.

Coffees: Passionfruit espresso tonic, flat white w/ pandan syrup

Tano pastries: ube salt bread, hojicha cookie, black sesame cookie, garlic kouign amann, ube salt bread, and guava butter mochi.

I love carbonated specialty coffee drinks so the passionfruit espresso tonic was definitely up my alley. The baked goods were all really good, but my personal favorites were the guava butter mochi, garlic kouign amann, and ube salt bread. The butter mochi had such a nice chewy texture, the garlic flavor was super strong from the butter, and the ube cream was so good paired with the fluffy bread.

Tano x Socola’s 25th Anniversary Popup!! 🥐🇻🇳🍫

Went to the @tano__sf x Socola pop-up celebrating Socola’s 25th anniversary, and this menu was such a fun Vietnamese-inspired lineup!!! the line was insanely long but they had alpacas

my two favorite items:
🥩 Bò Kho Focaccia — Vietnamese braised beef, onion, Thai basil & fried shallots

🥖 Roasted Pork Bánh Mì Salt Bread — crispy pork belly, pâté, pickled daikon & carrot, cilantro, the crispy pork was INSANE!!!!

It was a day full of good eats and we went out to lunch and dinner with family + friends and it was good to catch up with people we hadn’t seen in a while!
