The Violence Against Women Act is up for a vote tomorrow. Let me say that again... THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT IS UP FOR A VOTE TOMORROW.
Today, I had the pleasure of taking part in an important special for #HLN. If you missed Targeted: Women, then you MUST catch the replay. It’s an important conversation exposing the culture of violence against women in this country and abroad. There is so much work, beyond the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, that still needs to be done to move the needle and begin seeing women as equal, valued and deserving of everyone’s protection and empowerment. When we are uplifted and encourage (hell, even if we’re not) women are capable off building bridges, moving mountains and changing the landscape of society. And we must start early...with our girls AND OUR BOYS. Teaching them how to treat and respect one another so that as they become adults, they understand and respect consent...they understand and respect theirs and the bodies of others...they understand and respect, value and exalt women everywhere. EVERYWHERE!!!! That’s how we move the needle.
