Perinatal anxiety and mood disorder, or PMAD, is the most common complication of child birth according to Lisa Lackner, founder of Beyond Motherhood.

That's why it is important to talk about maternal mental health as well as learn about the proper resources available on Long Island and beyond.

Following NewsdayTV's Macy Egeland's conversation with Lackner, fellow moms Priscila Korb-Kane, Christine Wallen and Tara Conry-Berghorn discuss their experiences navigating mental health during postpartum.

How much are you spending on school supplies this year?

With the new school year comes the need for new clothes and supplies before the first bell rings.

In one recent online order, Long Island mom Toni Anne Ekberg said she bought multiple packs of outfits and an array of classroom items: backpacks, folders, notebooks, pens, pencils, colored pencils and markers.

The price tag came to about $700 — and Ekberg is not done.

Introducing MOMTAWK 🎙️Priscila, Christine and Tara are tackling topics that every mom has thought about at least once.

This week’s first topic: Childcare costs 👇🏼

Most parents can probably agree that the most expensive parts of being a parent is paying for childcare. In New York, daycare centers can cost around $20,000 a year and home daycares can still cost about $16,000 a year.

For some Long Islanders, this could force many parents to reduce work hours or rely on family for childcare, and can make full-time employment financially unrealistic.

So how much are you paying for childcare? If your child is older, how much were you paying back in the day? Or have you found a creative solution to combat this high cost? Let us know in the comments and visit the link in bio for more.

WARNING: Tooth fairy talk! 🧚✨

Long Island moms: How much is the tooth fairy dishing out per tooth these days? No one can deny the price per tooth has gone up since the days when we were kids and we were likely getting $1, $5 or maybe even $10 per tooth. 💵

Some moms say that they are giving at least $20, with one mom saying she gave $60 for her child’s first tooth.

So what do you think? How much do you remember getting from the tooth fairy and how much do you think is fair now? You can read more in the link in bio.
