I finally got to see @jiacheng.jw at the LA Shorts Film Festival (her standee, technically 🥹), meet her incredibly talented team, and watch their short film The Eyeire (@the.eyeire ). 🤍

A few days before the screening, I started making this hanging piece as a gift for Jiacheng, inspired by the film and its protagonist, 涟诀. Her name has always felt especially beautiful to me — “涟” comes from 涟漪, or “ripples”: tiny waves spreading outward, quietly shifting everything around them.

It made me think of the ripples Jiacheng’s words created in my life many years ago. I finally got to turn that feeling into something I made and give it back to her. I genuinely feel like the happiest person in the world!! 🫀🌀

Still in deep gratitude & wonder sharing the news that my film The Eyeire (Thesis of @usc_map at USC, supported by @womeninmediainc & @lacountyarts ) will premiere at @lashortsfest: accredited by OSCAR® @theacademy , the British Academy of Film and Television Arts @bafta and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain @academiadecine.

In a post-apocalyptic world and Buddhist dystopia, “The Eyeire,” where human desires are prohibited and repressed, Synesthesia is the only empath with hyper-human senses who searches for a cure to her sexual assault case.
