+ 𝔫๏Ⓘ𝐑 :. tariq nasheed took his criticism of da’vinchi a step further, arguing that the bmf actor’s comments weren’t just disrespectful to foundational black americans; but could also send a message to white hollywood producers about which black actors are considered easier to work with. during his radio show, tariq referred to da’vinchi as a ‘d-list actor’ & accused him of benefiting from black american culture while criticizing the very people whose stories, style & influence have helped shape the roles he plays. tariq’s larger argument was that da’vinchi appeared to be signaling to white producers that he is different from black american actors, essentially presenting himself as less difficult or less ‘troublesome’ while reinforcing negative stereotypes about black american work ethic. the backlash began after da’vinchi’s conversation with cam newton turned to foreign black actors landing black american roles. da’vinchi criticized american work ethic & suggested some overseas actors may be viewed as more focused & dependable. for tariq, the contradiction was obvious : da’vinchi was criticizing black americans while building a career around black american stories, benefiting from black american culture &; in tariq’s words, essentially ‘cosplaying’ the very people he was putting down. do you think tariq made a fair point?, we do. peace to the gods & earths 🧨. ... #tariqnasheed #davinci #peacegod #theblackgod #ledieunoir.
