Another batch of photos from this project inside the @agotoronto.

Earlier this year, @seikalab invited myself and @raoulwilke to take part in this photography shoot, documenting social dance from above. So interesting to see the dancing body captured from above as opposed to forward-facing. This was inside the @agotoronto gallery school.

Being a mom is the ultimate act of service and carries a lot of sacrifice.

When I was expecting my first child, I honestly thought that dance was done for me.

But it came back.

I swayed my hips during labour to breathe and transcend the pain.

I rocked and danced my newborn to sleep.

I danced through housework, play, Disney music and tantrums.

I danced for myself.
I went back to class whenever I could.

In my mind, I choreographed to music. The visualization helped my body to remember.

Dance.
It is my Joy.

My connection to Breath,
Creativity,
Momentum.

On Monday, I will be interviewing dance artist, choreographer and mom of 2, Tracey Norman on how she raises a family and a dance career.

We will talk about her strategies on sustainability, creativity, drive and mindset. Also, we talk about childcare and the balance of it all!

In a safe space, Dance transcends ego, perfectionism, limiting beliefs and expectations. As humans, we have a right to embody our movement and our breath. Modern life disconnects us to this magic in adulthood. As children, we know this power.

The focus of my recent work is to re-introduce dance movement as a part of your strategy to reduce stress, boost creativity and ignite a curiosity towards multi-planar mobility and performance.

This magical moment was taken with The Changemakers. I witnessed dance movement prompted by the soul. Anyone can dance. BEAUTIFULLY.
✨
Dance is the embodiment of the mind, body and spirit connection.

The first Changemakers session was very transformative. Thank you to the beautiful participants that joined @jaimelyn00 and I in the journey of:
💜 Returning to breath
💜Connecting to our body alignment
💜 Exploring improvisational dance movement
💜 Claiming space
💜 Vocalizing boundaries
💜 Learning self-defense movement

In two hours, everyone in the room was more confident and had a curiosity for further exploration.
📯I also want to note, that I am so proud of the DIVERSITY in the room. This is Toronto, this is community. Circle with us.
