Naples Street House
Tuesday 5 Dec, 2023

The walls and joinery panels of the home are all lined with a rich, wax finished Spotted Gum plywood. A highly durable, locally sourced finish to bring warmth and character into the house, and to comfortably withstand many years of knocks & scrapes of a multigenerational family living, growing and playing together.

Hidden within a dense coastal garden along the Great Ocean Road, No.23 Residence by Tristan Burfield @tristandburfield in Aireys Inlet, Australia, completed in 2025, is conceived as a compact retreat separated from a larger dwelling. 🌊 A sequence of tall blackbutt timber frames defines the façade, opening interiors toward layered garden views while maintaining a restrained exterior presence. Galvanised steel elements frame openings and introduce durability suited to coastal conditions. 🌿 Inside, simple timber-lined spaces support short stays, with details such as a bunk arrangement and open fireplace reinforcing a pared-back domestic atmosphere. Materials and finishes respond directly to sand, wind, and use, allowing the structure to adapt and weather over time. 🔥

New #StoreyTime: Wildcoast Portsea by Pandolfini, which features an innovative use of two Storey timber colours.

At the edge of the Mornington Peninsula, where salt air and shifting dunes shape the land, Wildcoast emerges in quiet dialogue with its surroundings. Conceived by Pandolfini Architects, the design becomes both refuge and aperture: open to light, yet shielded from the elements; connected, yet deliberately inward.

A restrained, coastal palette grounds the home where materials were chosen to embrace the rhythm of the sea rather than resisting it. This home features our Cloud 90 boards on its ceilings, and our earthy Ground boards for the stairs and flooring, demonstating how timber in varying shades can bring alternative atmospheres to different spaces in a home.
