Driving through Mattawa, WA, we saw @tiddaly_diddalys and had to stop for lunch because of the name alone! 😂 It’s an adorable restaurant with pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and ice cream. I ordered the Mattawa Dip and Tyler ordered the Mikey. Both were roast beef sandwiches and they were very good!! 🥪

Also in Vantage, WA, right next door to @vantagecoffeecompany, you will find @theranchbyroyalfamilyfarming. A burger restaurant perched above the Vantage Bridge, The Ranch is an absolutely amazing restaurant!!! Their burgers are a 10/10. Their fries…so good! They’re cooked in beef tallow. They also have an Apple Cider Slushie that I had to for you guys, of course (I know…I make sacrifices for the ones I love) and it was like apple pie in a cup.
They also make and sell their own honey and if you look to the left of the honey bottles in the first photo you’ll see LITERAL beehive with bees that can come and go out of the top of the restaurant. How cool is that?!

What do I spy with my little eye? #veraison (the color change that takes place in grapes which signals the beginning of the ripening stage) of #merlot at RMV on Red Mtn.! I think we’re on track for a “normal” window for harvest dates. I’m anticipating first week of Sept. for Chard and possibly this Merlot block a little behind that. Our growing degree days seem like they match up close to 2025 (ytd) but August and a warm Sept pushed that vintage to some higher than avg GDD’s. If we have an “average” August, I think we’re trending towards a 2012 type vintage (fingers crossed). Now if all this smoke would kindly “F” off haha ! #wawine #sofhcellars #harvest2026

CH-CH-CHECK IT OUT!
We had a feeling that people were going to love the 2023 Red Wines that our awesome team created! And these reviews are another testament to the unique and diverse region where we grow and make wine. #WAWine is not a singular variety or style. Our greatness as a region lies in our diversity! We’re able to craft world class Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, Cab Franc, Grenache and Syrah in our state. That’s pretty special. Thanks to @iwinereport and @thatwaywithj for the love, and special thanks to our growers who are dedicated to pushing quality forward while maintaining a sustainable and regenerative approach to grape growing. Not all of these wines have been released yet, but you’ll definitely want them in your cellar! Our Wine Club members get first dibs on a few of these wines, we’d love to have you in our SOFH Family too! #sofhcellars #punkrockwinesforpunkrockminds #wallawallawine #redmtnava

We first tasted Syncline 2025 Picpoul at Taste Washington earlier this year and immediately knew we would be drinking more this summer. In fact, it’s one of our favorite white wines in Washington state these days.

So, we ordered a few bottles from our incredible online retailer, Full Pull and also tasted it again at our community monthly wine club in July. Simply delicious and delightful!

This bottle of sunshine comprises 100% Picpoul sourced from Washington’s renowned Boushey Vineyard. It features all the things we prefer in white wine – light, bright, fresh, lemon flavors backed by notes of wet stone, with bracing acidity and salinity.

In other words, Syncline’s 100% Picpoul checks off all our boxes for an outstanding white wine. But be sure to serve it very chilled – either with seafood or simply sip it without food. It’s that good.

Syncline Cellars is nestled in the Columbia Gorge, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.

Thanks to Sean Sullivan, our friend and owner/writer of Northwest Wine Report, for recommending we make sure to try it at Taste Washington. Sean also named Syncline Cellars as Northwest Wine Report’s 2025 Winery of the Year.

Wine Wisdom…read my review👇

Tom Wilson, the award winning winemaker at Chateau Noelle in Snoqualmie, WA doesn’t think of himself a “winemaker” because “only God can make wine” - Tom is a “vinedresser” as the Germans say.

Here are 3 wine wisdom insights I left with after spending a few hours with Tom in his beautiful vineyard (which is open to the public by the way and you should DEFINITELY go if you want a very unique wine experience)

1. As a vinedresser Tom has to let go of so many elements he can’t control…wind, rain, sunshine, humidity - Tom can only control his effort and energy to care for the vines. Like Tom, each of us have so many elements in our lives we can’t control, but we can control the 100s of micro decisions we make each day about how we will spend our effort and energy.

2. “Out of 25 shoots or so we choose 4 or 5 vines” - when you work hard and with passion you will produce more good options for your next season and harvest. Stay focused, but don’t be surprised when more opportunities present themselves to you as you grow in character and confidence.

3. “Without sun, there is no fruit” - in the same way the vines have to climb and grow to reach the sun, you are also called to grow and climb to reach a place where you will produce good fruit.

About the wines:

1. If you like Pinot Noir you will love what Tom produces at Chateau Noelle. It has so much character and there is a reason it keeps winning wine awards and recognition from top wine writers.

2. I’m obsessed with the Malbec. The mouthfeel is incredibly satisfying without being sweet or syrupy. I am not a big fan of “Washington fruit bombs” as I call overly sweet WA wines, and Tom does a great job balancing out each of his wines with barrel tannins and blending techniques.

3. BUBBLES! 🍾 Don’t be like me and overlook how good the Chateau Noelle sparkling wines are! Try the pet-nat (naturally occurring bubbles) wines here!

FINAL THOUGHT: Go to their vineyard. Walk the vines, ask Tom questions, join their wine club, buy their wines, experience the whole thing.

Thank you Tom for sharing your wisdom and wine with me. I’m excited to be a wine member!

Did you know Richland just opened up a new matcha/coffee shop in The Parkway?! @alignment.cafe has a store in LA, Yakima, and now the Tri-Cities and is now serving up hand whisked matcha shipped in from Shizuoka, Japan. We’re not huge matcha lovers, so we went with their coffees which were absolutely delicious!! How gorgeous is their shop?! I love how unique it looks!
