Yes that’s right! It’s been awhile since I worked a convention but I’m happy to say I’ll be attending the Westchester Tattoo Convention this weekend. Looking forward to reconnecting with tons of old mates and meeting some new ones as well!

ARTISTS, WE WANT YOUR ART. 🖤
The September Project is inviting participating artists to contribute original artwork for a commemorative book created around remembrance, healing, love, service and community.

We’re suggesting 11 × 14 vertical artwork whenever possible. Any medium and style is welcome. Tattooers, painters, illustrators, photographers, designers and other visual artists are all invited to participate.

The artwork will become part of The September Project book, with donated original pieces also helping us raise funds in support of the World Trade Center Educational Tribute and Healing Garden at Snug Harbor.

Your piece does not have to depict September 11 literally. We want artists to interpret what honor, remembrance, survival, healing, Staten Island and community mean to them.

If you'd like to contribute, DM Ruthless @typicalbroad with your name and interest. Submission details and deadline will follow.

WHY THE PEAR BRANCH?

After September 11, a badly damaged Callery pear tree was discovered in the rubble at Ground Zero.

It was burned and broken, with only one living branch—but it survived.

The tree was carefully removed, nursed back to health and eventually returned to the World Trade Center site. Today, it is known as the Survivor Tree.

It has become a living symbol of resilience, survival and rebirth—a reminder that even after unimaginable loss, life can continue to grow.

That is why the pear branch appears throughout The September Project.

It represents remembrance without standing still. It honors what was lost while recognizing the strength it takes to rebuild, reconnect and keep memory alive.

The branch is more than part of our design.

It is the heart of the project.

You’ve seen the name. Now it’s time to take action and become part of The September Project.

This year-round effort brings Staten Island’s tattoo and art communities together to honor the lives lost on September 11 and raise funds for our Staten Island–based 9/11 memorial.

We need customers, tattoo artists, shops, and local artists to get involved.

JOIN AS A CUSTOMER

Book an appointment with a participating tattoo artist and choose:

• A qualifying NYPD, FDNY, EMS, or Staten Island–themed tattoo — $25 donated
• Designated flash — 25% of the tattoo price donated

Choose meaningful art. Support a local memorial. Help keep the memory alive.

TATTOO ARTISTS & SHOPS

Join the effort by:

• Creating designated flash
• Deciding which tattoos qualify
• Tracking your donations
• Bringing clients and the community together

If you own a shop or tattoo professionally, don’t wait. Help make The September Project visible across Staten Island.

LOCAL ARTISTS

Donate an original piece of artwork to be auctioned as part of The September Project.

Donated work will also be professionally photographed for inclusion in a remembrance coffee-table book. Your art can continue raising funds and honoring those remembered for years to come.

READY TO PARTICIPATE?

Participation is voluntary and independent.

To join the Staten Island Tattoo Coalition or contribute artwork, DM Ruthless @typicalbroad for details.

HELP SPREAD THE WORD

• Tag a tattoo artist or shop
• Reach out to a local artist who should be involved

Every booking, donation, share, and connection helps.
