POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Jill Black resigned with two years left on her term and said her replacement should be chosen by voters. More than 700 residents emailed the county commission asking for the same thing. On September 2nd the resolution to put the seat on the November ballot failed on a 5-5 tie, and the deadline passed two days later.

The seat will be filled by appointment instead. But the same statute the county attorney read aloud that night to stop an appointment also says the chair has to let registered voters submit names first. That part never came up.

Send a name to the chair in writing. Ask your commissioner to nominate it. Watch tnpublicnotice.com for the notice. Show up when the meeting is called.

Some of my favorite photos/moments from summer so far ☀️

Grateful for Kenley, my book club, history tours, gnarly sunsets, summer days by the water, seeing @turnoverva, Chattanooga adventures, and brewskis.

Now is the time to be more creative, not more restrained.

More trusting, not more fearful.

More empathetic, not more comfortable.

More relational, not more systematic.

More courageous, not more cautious.

More unique, not more of the same.

More pursuing of wisdom, not greater pride in expertise.

More return on inspiration, not solely return on investment.

there are discernible design aspects of European streets that make them so appealing to us as Americans.

In fact, this isn’t something specific to Europe in general. Any American traveling abroad will often seek out places that reflect these concepts.

Thanks @tatemaggie for sharing your vacation!

WEEK 6: So Many Familiar Faces

This week, Sydney and I went to Mission Chattanooga with our friends Maggie, Bruce, and Shannon. There were so many familiar faces at that church: non-profit friends, small business friends, musicians from local bands. We were there 20 minutes after the service ended just talking to people we knew.

But I really appreciated our conversation over lunch the most.

Church hurt is a real problem and today’s post delves into why we need to address the issue… in a healthy way that leads to healing.
