We’ve spent a lot of time at the ballet studio, but my only regret is not spending more. A million thank yous, rounds of applause, and standing ovations to all the teachers, dancers, families and audiences who made these the best years ever. We love you Long Beach Ballet 🖤

In honor of @themaledanceconnection’s final day at our Summer 2026 Adult Intensive, we’re throwing it back to Artistic Director Bryce Lee training at Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy back in 2010.

Full circle moment- I used to watch these videos on my home computer during my first year of dancing and try to imitate everything I saw 🙆‍♂️

I’m telling you, the dance world is small 🌎♥️

✨ A little sneak peek of our upcoming production of Sylvia… 🩰🌿✨

We cannot WAIT to share this beautiful ballet with you, along with our end-of-year showcase featuring everything our dancers have been working so hard on all season long. Watching these students grow in confidence, artistry, technique, kindness, and friendship has been one of the greatest gifts.

We are beyond proud of our dancers, teachers, staff, and BAM families. Over the last five years, we have built something so special together — a supportive, encouraging, uplifting environment where children are truly thriving both inside and outside the studio. 💛

On June 9th, we officially celebrate our SIX YEAR anniversary… and honestly, we could not be more excited for Year 6. 🎉✨ What started as a dream has become such a beautiful community, and we are so grateful for every family who has trusted us with their children.

Please come celebrate with us and experience the magic of Sylvia and our Spring Showcase at San Juan Hills High School! 🎭

🎟️ Tickets are almost SOLD OUT
🩰 Fall classes are almost FULL too — if you’d like your spot for Season 6, now is the time!

We can’t wait to see our dancers shine on stage. 💫

Stop blaming your shoulders for a shaky overhead press. 🩰🧬

Stability in a partnered lift isn’t about strength — it’s about mechanical tension at the lockout. I look at lockout as matching the resistance to the muscle’s strength curve.

The Protocol:

Cable Pushdowns: Constant load through the full range of motion. High mechanical tension = the foundation for tricep hypertrophy.

Banded Pushdowns : Bands match the tricep’s natural recruitment curve. Resistance peaks at full extension — exactly where your lockout needs to hold.

Match the load to the muscle’s recruitment pattern and you don’t just build bigger triceps — you get a bone-stacked lockout that won’t budge under pressure.

Save this for your next upper body session. 💾

Ballet Arte hosted our second annual Invitational for our students. Those that are competing this season had the opportunity to perform and receive constructive feedback from outside judges before the competition.
It also gives the parents an opportunity to see behind the scenes the hard work and process it takes to prepare for a competition.

It was a wonderful afternoon and well received by all.
We thank our Judges for their time and support during this exciting time and to our students for the hours of preparation getting you ready for this moment.

Merde to all! 🩰💕

Stop doing more. Start building capacity. 🧪🩰 I was a Prix de Lausanne candidate when I learned the hard way: technique ≠ tissue capacity. I was performing on the world stage… in chronic pain.
That cycle followed me to Colorado Ballet—where “more class” kept failing.
During the 2020 break (before LA Ballet), I rebuilt: long-length loading + explosive power to build an engine that can tolerate the job.
Now as a freelance dancer—while finishing my physiology degree—I meet the demands without living in daily class, because my training is for load, not just shape.
If your technique is improving but your body is breaking: you don’t need more class. You need a better engine.
Train for the load. Not the look.

Velocity > Volume. 🧪🩰
Male dancers don’t lose speed because they’re not strong enough.
They lose it because they train muscles short.

Loading muscles at long lengths builds faster, more elastic tissue—power you can actually use on stage.

That’s how dancers like Villella moved the way they did.
Train for the load. Not the look.
