It’s hot af up here and down there for today’s #SundaySchool🤘🏰 👋🏾✌🏾😮‍💨❤️‍🔥
—————
Anyways, Y’all know the vibes, and if u don’t, check out the Sunday School hashtag & look around the page 👀🫥🫡🫠. Less fluff and more connection, is the type of time I feel we should be on collectively.
Could someone look up general strikes and tell me if they’ve historically worked before?, cuz I’m just curious, and u should be too 😏
———
Otherwise, be present, feel things, value your body, joy, time ,energy AND Labor. Remember the GoldenRule and that we’re stronger together, but u can’t fill from an empty cup 😉🙏🏾🤘🏾✨💫💪🏾🫶🏾🫵🏾🕶

Just a #FYI Year 4 is hitting a little different.

Very few know that I’ve always wished old Mas could come back, in today’s Mas!

So I’m grateful to @rbgcarnival for seeing the vision I wanted to portray and thanks to @xia_international for being the band to bring #Heritage to Miami Carnival.

I must also give a S/O to everyone that played a part in getting my design off the paper and onto the body. The calls that gave me support and encouragement. The advice and references that helped make this happen. I can’t thank yall enough.

This is Tan-Tan Minwi

Born under the crescent moon of Trinidad 🌙, now moving beneath Miami’s neon sky 🌴🌆

Our heritage must transcend through time. 🕰️🌍

We, Caribbean people, "go on the road" to play mas' as an act of reclaiming our ancestral cultural identity, personal autonomy over our bodies, and as an act of celebrating emancipation from slavery.

We dress in costumes that are African inspired and dance like our ancestors did... we move our hips and butt and we wind up our waists. Make no mistake! Playing mas' is NOT a drunken street party and KNOW that the mas' costumes are examples of Afro futurist wearable works of art!

Come join us at our Caribbean Costume workshop and then bring your costume to play mas' on August 17th at 2PM.
