Get to know Chef Dino Moniodis of @tavernalithi! Lithi is a Greek fishing village on the island of Chios in the Mediterranean, where Dino was raised. In Greece, it’s traditional to sit by the beach and order meze, or small plates of savory snacks. Meze will be the focus of Taverna Lithi’s menu, including a Greek salad, dip platter with tzatziki, a tasty yogurt and cucumber sauce, hummus, skorthalia, a Greek garlic mashed potato dip, and kalamata olives. All served with fresh-made pita bread. Please help us welcome Taverna Lithi! Learn more about their offering and what they will be bringing to the collective come this Fall. Plus, head over to the link in our profile to watch their new video! livery135.com/the-stables

It’s easy to understand why seafood is such an important part of Greek cuisine. There are so many islands and well-developed coastal areas that seafood is readily accessible, which means that chefs have easy access to the freshest fish available. When preparing Greek food outside of Greece, seafood is almost considered an afterthought. People enjoy the occasional plaki, a baked seafood dish, or Greek seafood stew, but they don’t rely on it as a mainstay in their diet. In Greece, it’s much more commonly used. Here at Taverna lithi we plan to use all our resources around us and utilize our also well-developed coastal areas that we have to offer.

Who's ready for χταπόδι?! (Octopus) We sure are. You will offten see a greek by the shoreline Tenderizing It by repeatedly smacking it on the ground. It's a funny sign to watch and quite labor intensive but it must be done in order to cook the dish properly. We can't wait to add this to our menu.
