On 3 October, we held the first Hamilton SP RFC Womenโ€™s Awards Night. A special evening celebrating our first season, everything weโ€™ve achieved together, and every woman who has contributed to building this team. We feel incredibly grateful to have had @aimee.barrett.theron with us. Thank you for sharing your time and words with us, and for being such a special friend to our team. Your strength, both on and off the field, is something we deeply admire, and having you there meant so much to us. To the ladies who brought the evening together, @aasiya__sondayyy and @aly._.nell , as well as @andi_homan_hooligan , quiz master and mc, thank you for making it so special ๐Ÿ† A special thank you to @blistexsa and @africanextract for sponsoring our gifts and helping make the night memorable. And a huge thank you to @the_butcher_box_ for the continued support throughout the season ๐Ÿ™ To our coach @waleed_moerat , thank you for believing in the vision, bringing us together, and helping build the team we are today. We wouldnโ€™t be here without your dedication and belief in what womenโ€™s rugby at Hammies could become. Every player, every contribution, every step forward has shaped this journey. We have so much to be proud of, and weโ€™re only getting started. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’› #HammiesWomen #HamiltonSPRFC #WomensRugby #CapeTownRugby #AwardsNight

What started out as a summer of side quests with @michsept_ last year rapidly evolved into something much, MUCH bigger. A year ago my sweet @miss.cootee invited me to play in a tag rugby tournament on Heritage Day. I had no cooking clue what I was doing, but I scored a couple of tries and had the time of my life! Next thing we know, we're entered into a mixed Summer League, invited to participate in the Summer Tournament, and selected to the first ever @tagrugbysa National Women's Team ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Showing up at the same tournament a year later as part of the national team was not something I ever imagined, but an achievement that I'm incredibly proud of. It's been 9 months of balancing multiple jobs, 10+ training sessions a week, and doing my best to convince @josshansmeyer that I still love him despite sacrificing any and all free time to this delusional pursuit ๐Ÿฅน It was the cherry on top to be named Vice-Captain to help lead an incredible group of women as we gear up to take on the best in the world. Putting that blazer on made all of the struggles worth it. Apparently you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Only thing left is to lace up ๐Ÿ‰ #TheScienceOfSlaying #GreenAndGold #KykWatDoenNBlazer #WomensRugby #PutMeInCoach

It's been a really tough few months of training. Even though it's been far from ideal, I'm really proud of how I showed up week in, week out! It's felt like an eternity since I've made any progress in my output, but I owe it to myself to acknowledge the strides I've made, as unexpected as some of them were ๐Ÿ˜ฌ #TrustTheProcess #TheScienceOfSlaying #BrickByBrick #ComeToWork #GymDiaries 3RM Strict Ring Dip: +17.5kg Time after time I'm amazed at the diabolical things @justin.swart has me doing with his programming. 15 weeks post-hamstring tear: First time sprinting pain free! Shout out to the @peakmvement team for having my back both literally and figuratively ๐Ÿ˜ญ I do not know where I'd be without y'all ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ And my sweet @emitha_yelanga for sneaking this video ๐Ÿฅน 6RM BB Strict Press: 40kg (+4kg) The fact that my shoulders even work right now is a miracle given the war zones they've been in ๐Ÿฅฒ But the regular maintenance work at @arc_recoveryct has made ALL the difference and has me feeling like a brand new person every time ๐Ÿคฉ Max Strict Ring Dips: 13 (+7) Again, I have no business being able to do this, and yet @justin.swart persists with his mastery. Max In-Game Speed: 28.8km/h Finishing the season not only in one piece, but also thriving?? @waleed_moerat @_kmdw_ @fiona_coaching y'all did your big one there ๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿผ Ya girl has been EATING!! Ok ngl mostly drinking ๐Ÿ’€ If you've seen me at the gym or on the field, I've likely been accompanied by a wide array drinks because it's the easiest way for me to get sufficient nutrition in ๐Ÿงƒ๐Ÿฅ›๐Ÿง‹ Also chewing is laborious, and I'm TIRED GRANDPA ๐Ÿ˜ญ Anyway, crazy what you can achieve when you fuel your training appropriately! This is your sign to HAVE THE CARBS, and also get you a @josshansmeyer to bully you into finishing your dinner every night ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ
