IT’S OFFICIAL! 🌊🎉

Her Resilient Sea is officially a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!

What started as a vision to create safe, healing-centered spaces for women veterans is becoming something so much bigger.

We’re building a community where women veterans can reconnect with themselves, one another, and the ocean through surf therapy, sisterhood, and shared experiences.

To our board members, donors, community partners, and everyone who has believed in this mission from the beginning: THANK YOU. 🩷

This milestone is worth celebrating, but we’re just getting started!

✨ Mark your calendars: January 8, 2027.

Our official launch is coming, and we can’t wait to share what’s next.

Sisterhood. Self-Discovery. Stoke. 🌊

W E | W A N T | Y O U // The mission doesn’t have to end when the uniform comes off. Sometimes, it just changes.

For me, the outdoors became part of that next mission.

It gave me a place to reconnect with service, community, shared hardship, and purpose—and eventually an opportunity to help other veterans discover some of those same things through stewardship, conservation, and advocacy for the public lands we all share.

I’ve come to call it Mission Therapy.

That’s a big part of why I said yes to serving as a Founding Ambassador for the inaugural Veterans Outdoor Recreation Summit.

From October 1–3 in Park City, Utah, veterans and leaders from across the outdoor community are coming together to build stronger pathways into outdoor recreation, stewardship, education, advocacy, community, and careers.

And you don’t need to already consider yourself an “outdoors person” to belong in that conversation.

If you’ve been watching this Summit from the sidelines, this is the week to make the decision.

Registration has been extended through Sunday, September 20.

Use my ambassador code CHAPPY for 15% off registration. And if cost has been the barrier, a limited number of scholarships are still available. Don’t count yourself out before exploring that option.

Come find some good people. Come explore what’s possible. Maybe even come find your next mission.

Public lands provide an important space for connection and healing. And that’s something worth fighting for.

In collaboration with Veterans For Public Lands (@veteransforpubliclands), the Conservation Lands Foundation is honored to highlight the amazing work of military veterans who protect our country— including public lands.

Marine Corps veteran Taylor Galadyk (@taylor_galadyk) guides women veterans through a love of surfing 🌊 and nature outings with her organization called Her Resilient Sea (@herresilientsea). Not only is Taylor connected to the ocean which sings to her, but also the organizations who work hard to protect it.

Thank you for your service and for being an incredible Public Land Protector, Taylor. 🩵

Mark your calendar: This Wednesday, September 9, join @the_salty_steward, U.S. Navy veteran, and @taylor_galadyk, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, for a special Instagram Live: The Places That Bring Us Home: Veterans, Nature & the Power of Story.

From the ocean to the mountains, America’s public lands and waters can offer veterans far more than a place to recreate. They can become places of connection, healing, belonging, and renewed purpose.
Chappy and Taylor will share how two very different landscapes helped shape their journeys after military service—and why protecting these places can itself become another form of service.

Because part of our responsibility now is protecting the places that helped bring us home, so the veterans coming behind us have somewhere wild to find themselves, too.

Join us live Wednesday, September 9 at 12 ET, and bring your questions about veterans, storytelling, stewardship, and the places that have shaped you.
