The end of an era

I’ve been swimming competitively since I was 6 years old and to really be done feels so surreal. This sport is my biggest personality trait and for a good reason. Whether it’s dancing and singing, cheering, bus rides, talking during kick sets, or something else I will never forget any of it.
I never would have guessed that the past 4 years with this team would have such a big impact on my life. Each year was so different, freshman year we had to wear masks and I barely made it on the regional team, sophomore year I made it to state in the 200 medley relay, junior year I won my first varsity event and made it to state in 2 relays, and senior year I was able to make it to state in 3 relays and many more accomplishments.
Not only has high school swim made a big impact on my life but so has club swim. The YMCA has been a fun team to be on with swim every night. DASH has been hard work with waking up at 4:15 a.m. for practice this past summer but I know it made me better. Both teams are so different but have made me love swim even more than I already did.
I love all the people I’ve met through this sport and all the teams I’ve swam for. I don’t know where I would be without this sport and these people. Every single person I’ve met through this sport has a special place in my heart. Thank you coaches, friends, teammates, and my family for everything. I love all of you and will never forget any of you.
