Happy International Dance Day 💃✨
Today we’re spotlighting Master’s student Jessica Cassette (@dancing_chip) and her research exploring how overtraining impacts vascular function and balance in dancers vs. non-dancers. Her work looks at how these vascular changes may be linked to cerebrovascular hemodynamics and overall brain health.
This work is necessary for improving our understanding of dancer health and performance 💙

April 14, 2026. Columbia University, New York City. I successfully defended my doctoral dissertation on dance-related injuries and rehabilitation —something I’ve poured my heart (and brain) into for so long. To finally share the work that means so much to me… surreal doesn’t even cover it. 🩵🎓🤍

The love, support, and guidance from my friends 🐍🥂, family, and the most amazing faculty and mentors carried me through. Every text, every call, every “you’ve got this”—I felt it all.

It’s been an unforgettable journey. This work reflects countless hours of research, passion, and a deep commitment to supporting dancers’ health and longevity—but now the real work begins: sharing this research and helping drive change in the industry. Join Morningside DanceWorX for a FREE dance workshop taught by doctoral student and former Rockette, Jen Turey.

More than just a dance class, this workshop is an opportunity to de-stress before finals, connect with others, and share in the joy of movement.

The highlight of the session will be learning and performing a mini kickline combination. This experience captures the magic of the season and the thrill of dancing in harmony.

No prior dance experience is required; the class is accessible, inclusive, and built around teamwork and fun rather than perfection.
