We caught up with @tcsilkk, a Jamaican 🇯🇲 American rapper, producer, and musician from West Palm Beach, to learn more about him and the experiences that shaped his debut album, Life Is Unfair. 🎙️

TC has spent years playing in bands, producing tracks, and performing in South Florida’s independent music scene. His sound carries that range, bringing together rap, R&B, reggae, and synth pop with an openness about his own experiences.

With Life Is Unfair, TC puts his experiences at the center of his first full-length release. Its 12 tracks explore the strain of difficult circumstances and the motivation he finds in music, love, and the people around him ✨

The album’s release and collaborators include:

- Released through @bak.musicman

- Recording and mixing by Sam Lowen @roxy777_ at @bleachhouse , who also mastered most of the project

- “Give Me a Chance” recorded and mixed by Oscar Zayas @oscar_zayas_ at @onbeatstudios

- Photography and video by Suleman Dawood @internetsuleman

In our conversation, TC shares his approach to writing ✍️ and production 🎛️, the tracks that resonate with him, and how touring has influenced his work.

Inspired the love of all things fast, the incredible music emanting from our local scenes, walks to Lake Worth Beach, and the Jamaican countryside I return to every time I close my eyes. Growing up where people come to slow down and die creates an insatiable urge for velocity. We think fast, we feel fast, we live fast, we dance fast. Some of us died fast and this is for them, too.
